I’ve waited a while , since my case was “closed “ to voice my concerns , since I’ve never had to experience a claim like this ever in my 70 years of life. I was NOT AT ALL satisfied with the outcome of my auto accident case handled by “Kim”, that occurred in January 2019. During my case “Kim” went thru several, not exaggerating , paralegals who lost my files , or she could not access the information they accumulated on my case , ie : no password access , when they left . I felt I did a lot of the work to duplicate the info she could not access or had literally had no access to during my case . Also I , myself , had to do a lot of the research and or follow up regarding why Medicare thought they were being double billed . I spent hours upon hours trying to explain to Medicare what pertained to the accident & what was regular medical expenses - unrelated . I alone , not my lawyer, was able to unravel all that and recover the funds in question . However, she still got her commission, and was I still out money, doing her job. I was on vacation with our grandchildren in Disney /Florida when her then “ paralegal “ called me & asked if I wanted to settle for a stated amount , rather than going to court & incurring more expenses , ie: calling witnesses , professionals etc etc & to testify about my permanent injuries & “possibly delaying the final settlement “ and “paying them more” and decreasing “my settlement money” to testify” about my permanent injuries “ , which I have as documented . I said I was on vacation & would call when we returned in a few days with my decision . Next thing that I knew “Kim” called & and stated that this was the final offer from the judge regarding my case & that “I should settle “ because this would be the final offer , in lieu of a court case where I I would have to to “pay” all the professionals , dr’s etc to testify about my “permanent “injuries & this would decrease my settlement amount . She ( Kim) told me I had to make a decision then & there. I felt very pressured , due to my situation being on vacation with my family in such a crowded place, & not being able to make a “qualified “ decision or discuss it with my husband in a private environment. So I agreed to her “suggestion “to settle . Just to note - this case was ongoing during the peak of COVID . Everything was Zoom & there were no court cases being scheduled or heard , unless they were emergencies . I feel I was deprived of a proper court decision &!was “persuaded “ to settle my case” because of this I have documented permanent injuries that won’t ever be resolved at my age , and I feel I’ve been cheated out of a proper settlement to acknowledge that. In short , I hesitated to voice my disappointment in the way my case was handled by my lawyer “ Kim” and the final outcome of it. I feel it was “ settled “ so everyone could get their “commission “, with no regard about my future medical conditions as a direct result of this accident / that wasn’t my fault. I considered writing a review of how disappointed I was about how my case was handled , and that I was just another commission for a “fender bender”. However I felt at the time , I was too angry about my case & its outcome& how it was “mishandled” to follow thru with that review to be fair .So since you asked, I’m answering . I hope my review of this poorly handled situation will prompt someone to reach out to me for further action . In all honesty , due to all this bad representation , I would never recommend this firm. Respectfully submitted Kim R Sferra

I came to Peter Bronzino with my domestic violence case. I was seeking a final restraining order. I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience. From the beginning he was kind, compassionate and sensitive to my case and the abuse I had endured. He listened to me and made me feel understood and comfortable. He was very up front in our first meeting about pricing and how billing would work, leaving me with no surprises- which is so important when you’re going through an already draining situation. I knew what to expect and didn’t have to wonder or be sticker shocked during one of the most trying times in my life. He always got back to me same day if I called or emailed with a question. He took the time to walk me through my case, explain potential outcomes, and ensure I felt comfortable and prepared for trial. He fought for me in court, and really held my best interest and my 2 1/2 year old child’s best interest. He showed up as a true professional and never wavered. He was consistent and tough and I absolutely could not have done this without the exceptional legal services I received. The outcome was a win. I received the protection from the court that I so desperately needed. As a domestic violence victim, I felt like he helped me get my life back and finally be free of the abuse I had continued to endure, and while doing so, treating me with respect, dignity, and value. He made me feel strong and confident enough in my story to show up and stand in my truth. I’m forever grateful for his service to my case and I 20/10 recommend. THANK YOU!!!!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Brick, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
