Mr. Benevento was able to get a vary favorable ruling after I was stopped by NJ State Police without any reason. Mr. Benevento argued with the prosecutor that NJSP had failed to provide any reason why my car was originally pulled over. He also argued that NJSP failed to provide evidence in a timely manner. Ultimately, I was able to get leave the court house after paying a small ticket but was able to retain my license and did not have to spend any time incarcerated. I highly recommend his services.

I was recently involved with a criminal issue and Chris really helped out. When I was basically harassed by police after the incident he even showed up to a traffic stop I was involved in after I called him. He was there in 10 minutes. When we went to court he was prepared and argued diligently on my behalf. I've also used him for traffic violations and recommend him to all my friends. Without his guidance I probably would not have gotten off so easy. Thanks Chris!

I was arrested in December of last year and while looking for representation I stumbled upon Mr. Benevento. After a quick consultation I hired him on the spot. I immediately felt I could trust him and he did nothing to shake that over the next few months up to and through my legal proceedings. He was always professional and punctual and kept me well informed throughout the process (letter of the law, possible pleas and outcomes etc.). He was available virtually any time of day and returned every email or phone call I had very promptly when he wasn't. Reliable, professional, and affordable. Give Chris a call.

I had recently been pulled over for a four point traffic violation and was unsure of where to turn for legal assistance. If you've ever received a ticket before, the first thing that happens is that you receive a bunch of mailers from lawyers soliciting your business. I ignored these advertisements and turned to a local lawyer (Mr. Benevento) in my area. Upon our first meeting, he was professional and well informed. His prices were reasonable and above all, I felt that he was genuinely concerned about the outcome of my case more so than the compensation he would receive in exchange for his representation. On the day of court, I was a bit on edge, so I made sure to be at the municipal building an entire hour early. Surprisingly, I found that Mr. Benevento had beaten me there and was already waiting to meet with the prosecutor. He appeared to be very prepared and had details of my driving history as well as additional information concerning this particular occurrence; which made me feel more comfortable and relaxed that everything was under control. Mr. Benevento went in to speak with the prosecutor and their conversation lasted quite a while (I'm sure he was lobbying hard because my driving history is definitely not as favorable as most). Long story short, Mr. Benevento exited the room and explained that they were able to reach an agreement. Let's just say that calling it favorable would be an understatement! We were called first above all other lawyers and I not only avoided all DMV points, but also paid about half of what I was charged for similar violations in the past. This savings alone covered almost all of the legal fees that I paid to him. I could not have imagined a better outcome and I'm positive it is because of Mr. Benevento's professionalism and preparedness. Overall, I would recommend Mr. Benevento to anyone that wants a lawyer that does his research and prepares to win! I will definitely be seeking his expertise the next time I run into a traffic issue. Thanks again for everything Mr. Benevento!!

I went to Mr. Greenberg not knowing what to expect. I was devastated over my ex husband wanting a divorce and was dreading to meet an attorney and go through this whole process. When I walked into the office Mr. Greenberg sat down we talked, gave me advice and walked me through the whole process. Not only did he help me with my divorce but was giving me advice when I did not know what to do, whether my ex contacted me, or if I received a notice. Mr. Greenberg was very honest, helpful and knows exactly what to do, and gets back to as soon as possible. Highly recommend him.

Mr. Greenberg was hired by my firm to sell a contaminated gas station in New Jersey on several occasions mr. Greenberg was able to keep the deal together with his negotiating skills without his negotiations I believe the deal would never have closed in addition to being a good attorney he also is able to negotiate on behalf of his clients in addition his main focus is on closing the deal and not running up a large legal bill

I am incredibly grateful to Lorraine, Abigail, Zeina, Hannah, and the entire team at this exceptional law firm. While my case ultimately had a positive outcome, the journey had its challenges, especially at the start. During those uncertain moments, having a compassionate and reassuring lawyer like Lorraine by my side was truly a blessing. This law firm demonstrates genuine care, and their communication is exceptional. Lorraine's direct and personal involvement in handling my case made a significant difference. I hope you never find yourself in need of legal representation, but if you do, I wholeheartedly recommend this team without hesitation. Thank you all for everything!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cedar Grove, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
