I hired Mitch to handle an extremely difficult child support case in New Jersey for arrears that dated back to over 5 years ago and wasn’t closed out when the child turned 18; however Mitch and his team handled it effectively despite the delays due to covid and the court house. In the end I got the result I was hoping for with affordable charges. I confidently recommend this attorney for family law issues and disregard the negative reviews from unknown people.

Mitch was very accommodating to my busy lifestyle. He was understanding to my situation and handled the process with grace and fact. He is fair when it comes to price and his office staff is friendly and smart. I would definitely use him for other services if I need.

Mitch Mullen has got to be one of the best divorce lawyers in NJ. My case was complicated. I went through three other lawyers. I dropped the three other lawyers because they either overbilled, didn't get back to me or were just incompetent. Mr. Mullen somehow navigated my litigious wife's lawyer, helped to get a baseless Final Restraining Order dismissed and charged me much less than everyone else. Mr. Mullen is technically competent and very honest. I think Mr. Mullen also does a good job because he has paralegals which do all the admin work. So there's never a problem with scheduling, fees or reaching Mr. Mullen for an update on your case.

I hired Mr. Mullen during a very difficult time. I was looking to have a previous 50/50 parenting time changed. I was told by other lawyers that it would never happen. Mr. Mullen was able to use the specific details of my case, in order to help me achieve my goal. Thank you Mr. Mullen!

I hired Mr. Mullen for at an emotional time. He guided me through the process expertly and got me a positive and fair settlement. I don't know if the last review was legitimate but perhaps the facts of that person's case warranted nether result. My divorce was not inexpensive but Mr Mullen billed fairly for all the work he did. I would highly recommend him on any family law issue

Mr. Zorowitz represented me in a ugly child support case (he had my child support reduced by 85%!!) that several 'high profile' Haddonfield NJ attorneys (I spent OVER, YES, OVER $100,000 on Haddonfield NJ attorneys!!) and YEARS in and out of the Camden County Courts . Mr. Zorowitz is nothing but a true genius! He was happy to answer all of my emails and calls and did a thorough job of not only representing me but had a complete understanding of my case. Trust me, there aren't many attorneys in the US who treat you like that. Mr. Zorowitz was not cheap, but reasonable. No where near the money I had wasted in the past on 'high profile' Haddonfield NJ attorneys. There was no BS when it came time to be in front of the judge, just the facts were presented. In fact Mr. Zorowitz CORRECTED the judge on several topics!!!!!! WOW! Now that's an attorney who's no afraid to be heard! I only wish I could leave my name or email for who ever is reading this post. But this site won't allow it. Good luck to finding a better attorney than Mr. Zorowitz.

I called him because I was fired after 10 years working for my former company. He did not only help me to win the case but he discovered that the company had been paying me less overtime in every single paycheck for the last three years. Thanks !!!

When our son had his car accident, Scott Sheldon handled our case. We were impressed not only by his knowledge and professionalism, but how at ease we felt speaking with him. He kept in touch with us as the case progressed until he was able to reach a resolution in our favor. I would recommend him for legal counsel.

My previous lawyer forgot about my case and let the statute lapse. Scott picked it up, got my bum shoulder fixed by a great doctor and quickly resolved my case.

Scott represented me in a medmal case against my former treating orthopedist who injured me during a pain management treatment. Scott was aggressive and obtained a favorable settlement from the doctor's insurance carrier without filing suit or spending money on experts.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cherry Hill, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
