Thank So Very Much From The Bottom Of My Heart Brian! You are truly a Godsend! Going to court against my ex for domestic violence was scary until You, Brian took on my case. You were so very understanding, professional, caring and thorough. Your attention to the special details of my case gave me the feeling that I really had someone on my side fighting for my best interest. You presented everything in a manner that is honest and covered all the possibilities. You walked me through every step and explained everything to me clearly. I felt EMPOWERED and in control of my situation. You even made sure that my case was handled with my unique situation in mind not like just another client. That meant so much to me, since I was dealing with a sensitive and emotionally painful matter of domestic violence. I highly recommend You Brian Goldenfarb to any woman or man who needs a considerate attorney that even calls you on a Sunday if you have questions! I cannot stress enough how amazing Brian is and how he EMPOWERED Me to take control of my situation. I am beyond happy with the results Brian got for me in court!!! THANK YOU BRIAN, THE EMPOWERING ATTORNEY!!!

I was facing a dui and 3 other tickets and had no experience dealing with these types of things. I called a few attorneys and chose Brian. I’m glad I did. I could call and email him anytime and he would always be available for any questions I had and what I could expect. Brian worked hard for me and I got the best results I could’ve hoped for. Brian isn’t a salesman who promises things just so you hire him. He is honest and will do everything in his power to get you the best outcome he can. It was nice to know that someone has your back and is working hard for you as if he was the one with the problems.

Evan, Heather, Tori and the team are the best at what they do. From start to finish, they were great to work with, highly knowledgeable and made the whole experience so much less stressful. The closing was quick and organized. Cannot recommend them enough!

When my husband and I started looking for a home, I asked around to find a lawyer to represent us. I reached out to Evan since my brother-in-law and his wife hired his firm when they purchased their home. Right off the bat, I was impressed with Evan because he was incredibly thorough in answering all of my questions. We hired them to represent us and they did not disappoint. Evan and his team (including his paralegals and Heather Aronson) were always friendly, professional, knowledgeable and prompt when it came to responding to our questions and concerns. We were very happy with their service and definitely recommend them.

Words simply aren’t enough to describe what I’ve earned in life because of this man. His professionalism, human nature, and decorum are just some of his beautiful attributes he brings to the court room. He assessed and directed my entire approach and was spot on with my expected outcome. Through laying out the facts and showing my credibility Ted fought for mw to have joint custody of my son. No tricks, no gimmicks. Just the law, and his excellent reasoning and approach granted me everything I could have asked for. I have a voice and coachable moments now with my son whom I wasn’t able to with prior to finding Ted.

Edwin Rubin guided me through the entire naturalization process. He knows immigration law extremely well and most importantly, he communicates clearly at every step of the process, always returning emails and phone calls same day. He prepared me well for my interview and I would recommend him highly without reservation.

We chose Mr. Rubin to represent us to get permanent residency via marriage. Our previous lawyer tried to use the scare tactics, let us think the case is very hard and demanded a lot of extra charge. He also belittled us, and made us feel humiliated, that was when we decided to switch to Mr. Rubin. He treated us with kindness, told us the problem we had was not a big one at all, and charged us a very fair price. Everything he asked us to prepare is right on, the immigration interview was a actually pleasant. He made jokes with the officer, and everyone was in a good mood. Of course we got our green card on the same day! Thank you Mr. Rubin! We could not have done it without you!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of East Brunswick, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
