Let me tell you...if you are looking for a great defense attorney...look no further! Tara. Breslow is top notch at what she does! I am so grateful for Tara's help with my case. Tara always told me she HAD IT! That isn't easy for me especially with the legal system. I left it all to Tara and she defended me and helped me relieve a burden I have been carrying for years! Thanks to Tara I half my name and life back! More importantly, I can breathe once again! More than being a defense attorney, Tara Believed in me as a person! That meant everything! I wasn't just a client! You can trust Tara that she will defend you to the best of her ability. I don't trust many people! Tara is one person I can trust and so should you! THANKS TARA!

Claire and Felicia were amazing to work with! Claire really took the time to help me reach a reasonable settlement and avoid a contested divorce. Both Claire and Felicia were supportive and helped me navigate a divorce that could have become very complicated. I can't recommend them enough. Claire truly cares about her clients and I think she is the best divorce lawyer in Monmouth County if not NJ as she’s has the knowledge and expertise to get you the best possible outcome.

If you are in the unfortunate situation of a divorce and are worried about your future with your children, assets and mental well being Claire Scully is the attorney for you. From start to finish Claire has guided me every step of the way. My first priority was my two daughters and getting my equal share with them. Going through all the horrible aspects of a divorce parenting time, forensic audits of a business, splitting up assets and a restraining order against my now X wife. Claire wins time and time again. With a fantastic paralegal Felicia is always there for any question you may have. Always an ear to listen and help guide you through some of the worst days. Their knowledge and team work is truly a work of art. A divorce is an absolute horrible life event but having a team like Claire and Felicia in your corner truly matters. I never felt like any old client to Claire, she makes you feel like a top priority and truly cares about you. From the 9am Monday phone call to the just checking on you call on a Sunday afternoon Claire truly cares about her clients. While your family may be falling apart you gain a family with Claire and Felicia at Scully Family law.

I hired Claire Scully in summer 2019 when I filed for divorce. Claire and her Legal Assistant Felicia were available to talk whenever I needed more understanding about the Court system and what to expect in my case. Claire worked diligently to get me the desired relief. She is professional, thorough and empathetic. Now, several years later, I reached out to Claire again because I needed to modify my MSA due to a change in circumstances. Claire guided me and fought for the proper protection for my daughter. I am relieved I received what I asked for. If you are looking for the family lawyer who is professional, earnest and gets things done, I highly recommend her! She will fight for you to get the desired outcome you are looking for. Claire is truly an excellent family lawyer! I will definitely use her again in the future if needed.

Mr. Manco comes highly recommended. He cares about his clients and he is a true professional. Courteous, responsible and very attentive. He deals with various matters like real-estate law, mortgage closings, titles and most civil matters. He makes repeated appearances before many municipal courts. I used him for a very delicate matter. He was very discrete and fought for my rights. He did not rest until he got the job done for me. Lot's of lawyers have the attitude that you need them and they do you a favor. I never felt like that. He truly made me feel like I was an esteemed client. Thank you for all!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Freehold, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
