In 2013 we enlisted the services of Mr. Metrick to review correspondence we were mailing to our mortgage servicer. We had accidentally learned that our mortgage holder had been out of business for over 7 years. Since our mortgage note required that we be informed of such a development, we were concerned that our payments were going to the wrong party. We became more concerned when our correspondence went unanswered. We decided our next step was legal action and we were surprised that Mr. Metrick refused to take our money on what would likely be an expensive legal defeat even though we had solid legal grounds. In short, expect to lose before committing any funds. Probably due to our stubbornness we decided to proceed in what he consistently called a nearly lost cause. Once we commenced we were impressed with his understanding of the legal issues, the promptness of his actions and reasonableness of his fees. Over the years we've had to retain a number of attorneys and I can't recall any of them comparing favorably to Mr. Metrick. The fact that we ended up not going to court, received an offer from the servicer that honored our original request, and saved a bundle is largely thanks to Mr. Metrick. P.S. Most people think that the company they send their monthly mortgage payments to – the mortgage servicer – is also the note holder. This is most often not the case. You would be well-advised to check your mortgage records with your county. If you find something disturbing or confusing, give Mr. Metrick a call.
