Pros
1
Highly effective and dedicated lawyer who fights relentlessly for clients' interests
“Mr. Daniels promised results and I am happy to say that because of him I am able to spend more time with my daughters and I was also able to keep my parental rights.”
2
Excellent litigation skills and willingness to go to trial rather than settle
“He recovered the full amount of damages that we were seeking in a personal injury case. He advised us not to settle (many attorneys that I know personally would have advised to take the 'bird in hand') because he believed in the merits of our case.”
3
Passionate and compassionate approach, providing emotional support during difficult legal battles
“John helped guide me through a psychologically devastating divorce by not only being my counsel but by being my friend.”
4
Transparent, honest, and straightforward in his communication with clients
“He is honest. He never lied to me. He was empathetic -my cause became his cause - he told me how my situation should be resolved, and he worked tirelessly to make that happen.”
5
Willing to refer clients to other specialists when a case is outside his expertise
“Because it was not his area of expertise, he referred us to a firm in New York City that was able to assist us on this. Clearly, he put our self-interest above his.”

After firing two attorneys that were previously representing my custody battle and were not fighting for me I hire Mr. Daniels to represent me. He wasted no time and immediately took action. Mr. Daniels promised results and I am happy to say that because of him I am able to spend more time with my daughters and I was also able to keep my parental rights. Mr. Daniels is an amazing attorney that will fight for you until the end. Hiring him was the best decision. My only regret is not hiring him from the very beginning.

John is a very effective lawyer with an emphatic voice and large-scale experience, which makes him a powerful defender on the floor of a courtroom. He’ll always get the job done. My only regret is I do not have more stars to give.

I hired John Daniels when a psychotic female roommate put a restraining order on me with ZERO cause. Thsts no joke! U are guilty until proven innocent. I never laid hand on her or threatened to. But if I was found guilty and was granted a final restraining order. The consequences for me would have been very bad. I would be registered as a violent offender for one and you can lose your job over something like that. John Daniels took this very seriously was straightforward with me and actually got the psycho roommate to drop the keys five minutes before our actual hearing, and that way we didn't risk having a possible loss because you never know what's gonna happen with the judge so everything worked out great, and his work was diligent to the point, and he pays attention to your questions, and I highly recommend him.

Today I had a visit with my son at my home for the very first time and it is thanks to John's help and guidance. He has taken good care of me from the beginning and helped me navigate through a custody battle that I was failing to get through on my own. I can not praise or recommend him enough. He will give it to you straight and he will fight for your rights as a parent. I am so incredibly thankful to this man for what he has done.

I was referred to Maria Gesualdi by someone else, and expected much more than what she has provided. She had poor communication from the beginning of dealing with her, and then went completely MIA, and when she finally got back to me she said she was away for 2 weeks. Was promised phone calls and responses, but this didn't happen. I explained my case to her in great detail upon our initial conversation, and thought she realized how important it was since we were out over 20k on one of our rental properties. I thought that she would have taken this a little more serious, but that was not the case. My last chance to rectify this relationship with her was on 7/31 when she told me she would call me that day. Today, 8/8, still no phone call. I am not sure if this just wasnt something she was capable of handling, or she just dropped the ball completely, but I have been in the real estate investment business for a while, and I would not reccomend her. She did make some attempts at trying to resolve my case, but the main reason for my poor review is her absolute lack of communication and her disregard to work for her clients. I will seek other counsel.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Guttenberg, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
