Hired Jorden N. Pedersen Jr. for a federal workers compensation case. Had an on the job injury. Taken out by ambulance to Hospital. Jorden Pedersen misrepresented me on every level. Extremely poor defense, next to 0. I asked him repeatedly to subpoena appropriate people to my defense. Never did, at one point told me its too late, LIE. Two family members he called to my defense only. Opposing attorneys defense was to slander my good name and make me out to be a liar. No objections when called derogatory names. He allowed me to be abused with no defense. He divulged personal information I gave him to opposing attorney. Jorden Pedersen tells me that a certain person that testified against me hurt me the most, yet no rebuttal, cross examination, nothing. Actually he got up and walked out of court room after spewing lies. Jorden Pedersen did not advise me to file for SSD or unemployment. I was entitled to both and didn't know it. Gave me false information. Also failed to add all injuries and medical into case. He intentionally set me up for failure. I would never ever recommend him to my worst enemy. Unethical attorney in too deep with opposing attorneys. One in particular best friend per Jorden Pedersen. Conflict of interest. Read deep into my statements for they are facts. Too many to list and of course censored. He disrespected me and the oath he took. This is fact and truth. If had below 0 rating that would be too good for him. My experience with him was a travesty!

After sustaining some Serious Conditions in Iraq,My Defense Contractor Company Essentially DENIED me everything, and Even Stated there is NO Coverage due to WAR Exclusion on Short and Long Term Disability !! (P.S. IRAQ is a WAR ZONE-Company STILL DENIED !!) Mr Pedersen is MOST experienced in gathering Substantial data and Information surrounding the cases, and I Never felt I was just a "Number". Mr Pedersen and/or Staff WILL return Phone calls/emails in a Timely fashion. I interviewed with Two Different DBA Attorneys and was VERY Impressed by Mr Pedersens Knowledge and Experience in Defense Base Act Law. I would HIGHLY Recommend Without Reservation-Mr Jorden Pedersen to Any Claimant with Legitimate Conditions -sustained while employed as a Defense Contractor If you are looking for a Competent, Aggressive DBA Attorney-LOOK NO FURTHER !!

Getting right to it. Jorden got me paid. I was injured on the job and I went to Jorden to help me with my case. Jorden has been in the business for 40 years and I know that helped in me getting the best settlement possible. He never rushed me or pressured me, he doesn't need to he is very successful. Mr. Pederson always got back to me or was there and took my call and answered my questions. Don't rush into a settlement, make the smartest decision of your life and call Jorden Pederson.

I am a musical theater producer, writer and show developer. Over the past 15 years I worked with a well-known Broadway songwriter and lyricist on the development of a unique show. When the songwriter was approached by another producer, he used the concept from our show, and did not include me in his show’s production. The issue that he created centered on copyright infringement. Angry and upset over this betrayal, I turned to the person who I knew would help me through this difficult situation; Ms. Leila Amineddoleh. I have known Ms. Amineddoleh for 10 years. She is my go-to attorney for all my productions and creative works. She was aware of the circumstances regarding my creative collaboration with the songwriter. Over the past three years, Ms. Amineddoleh represented me in a copyright infringement dispute with the songwriter and his show’s producer, director and music director. Recently the matter was resolved due to the expert council of Ms. Amineddoleh. She was the essential representative in handling my issue. She had expert knowledge of all legal aspects and ramifications of my case and was able to artfully and aggressively negotiate a settlement. I highly recommend Ms. Amineddoleh to help you if you are dealing with issues involving intellectual property. An additional word of advice; if you are a creative person and are working in a collaborative relationship, seek her assistance in proactively protecting your interests. I am more than happy to talk with you directly about my experiences working with Ms. Amineddoleh and her staff, feel free to contact her office to obtain my personal contact information.

I am an artist based in NY and I retained Ms. Amineddoleh to assist me with some of my contracts and negotiations. She is very knowledgeable about art law and presented me with so many ideas that were totally foreign to me. It was very helpful. She was also really interested in my work and she took time to understand my long-term career goals. I'm still working with her on all my future contracts. Also, she was reasonable with her rates and worked efficiently. She is the best lawyer I've ever worked with.

Corinne took care of my divorce case. It finalized in April 2019 and the result was excellent. I obtained more financial support from my ex than I expected! Corinne is very nice, patient, and polite to everyone, has the magical skill of do not react right away! To be frankly honest, I was once very upset because of not enough explanations, but more I started to understand the process and her, I was totally blessed to have her as my attorney. I trust her very much and would like to get more help for my new business. I would highly recommend her!

Richard is brilliant at what he does! I have been with him since 2015. We bought our home under his guidance and did not feel a single pinch of all the hassles we go through in the process. He made sure we are prepared for everything at every step of the way. When it was time to sell, he again jumped in with his expertise to help us sail through smoothly for a complicated and time consuming closing. He also helped us with our defaulting tenant litigation, it was particularly very difficult situation given the profile of tenant, he very diligently and intelligently helped us get out of the situation. I would highly recommend him for his services.

Rich Devita is a class legal act. We had a real estate sale and closing that was extraordinarily complex and time-consuming, thanks to Covid and other issues. Rich was the steady legal hand leading us through the way. He always demonstrated strong patience, good judgment, and sound advice. And he charges a very fair rate with no surprises. I strongly recommend Rich Devita for your real estate and other legal concerns.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Hoboken, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
