If I could give less I would. 27 Aug Tuesday Hello. Welcome to Petrelli Previtera, LLC! I am a Live Person here to help. client complaint email 12:40pm Okay. Can you tell me a little about the situation? 12:40pm My experience was horrible. Started out with 1 attn and was bounced around. Finally April t recommended that I drop the suit to my deceased husbands estate. She had a letter drawn up and NEVER PUT IN A Joint waiver so that I was protected. 25K plus later they are still suing me. 12:42pm Give me a moment to go through your response. 12:42pm So I dropped the suit, on April T's recommendation but your firm left me totally unprotected from the countersuit. 12:43pm I apologize for the inconvenience. I can pass your concern along to our team to dig into this and circle back to you. Could I get your name and phone number please? 12:43pm this "inconvenience" may cost me over 100K plus all of the fee's I have paid to you. Im considering reporting to the attn general. You left me totally unprotected! 12:44pm I understand. 12:48pm She couldnt even get property returned that I have receipts for and that belong to my business...not me personally 12:50pm Thank you for contacting Petrelli Previtera, LLC. The chat session has ended. 12:51pm

What a nightmare. The short story, I was overcharged/double charged, charged for them fixing the mistakes they made in my docs. They told me my case was straight forward and gave me a ballpark number. That number was hit at what I was told was almost the halfway point of my divorce, then I was told well it could be more like 3 or 4 times that original quote. They then parted ways with the lawyer they assigned to me and finally acknowledged there was issues with billing that they would look into and get back to me, BUT ONLY if I agreed to the new lawyer they were assigning to me. Divorce is tough enough, they will kick you while you're down. Seek help elsewhere.

Dedication, honesty and the ability to listen are extremely important traits someone looks for in an attorney when choosing their representation no matter the issue. Having to the opportunity to work side by side with Marylou for several years, I have witnessed her drive and commitment to her client which is second to none! I highly recommend her services and at most a consult to see if her services would fit your needs.

When our two children were attacked by 3 full grown great danes we came acrossed Mr. Cowhey and after talking to him, we decided that he was the man for this job! He explained everything in detail in a way that my wife and i could understand and make decisions based on the information he provided, he stayed in contact with us through out the entire process and answered our questions thoroughly and clearly and again easily understood, when it came time for court he walked us through the process we were going to go through and it couldnt of been easier, he made a terrifying situation bearable and helped us get through it begining to end. I would personally recomend him to anyone in need of his particular services, THANK YOU MR. COWHEY FROM MY FAMILY AND I!

My one year old dog and I were viciously attacked by a pit bull. I didn’t want to file a law suit initially until I realized the severity of the injuries both mentally and physically. Most lawyers are all about the money not for the justice and compassion of the victim. I am blessed to have found David. He was our hero who understood our situation was efficient knowledgeable and above all sincerely compassionate

Having already known Adam as a person, I was not surprised to find that he gives meaning and weight to the term “legal service.” Adam is very friendly, client-focused, and diligent. He has great knowledge of personal injury law and courtroom procedure, and is a professional through and through. Though I did not need full-fledged legal services, I would not hesitate to put a legal matter in Adam’s hands, and I would do so with confidence that I would fully understand and be satisfied with the outcome.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Linwood, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
