I have NO complaints. Very good attorney. Reasonable and fair. And yes, the person earlier that claimed paid fees with no results can not be telling the truth. I have used Anthony for years and he has charged me far less then he should have. I have also referred him with no problems what so ever Honest. Reasonable and More than Fair

Tony recently represented me in what started out to be a very contentious and emotional divorce, yet within the first few weeks his expertise, level of compassion, genuine concern for me and my kids and easy-going demeanor (which turned aggressive and completely hard-nosed with my ex's lawyer when needed) put me at ease and made the best of what I initially thought be a long, drawn-out and costly process. He always made himself available to answer my questions, no matter how dumb I though they were, he even promptly answered my emails on weekends, and since his goals from day one were to reach a prompt and fair resolution of my case at minimal expense and without preparing needless paperwork, I have to say that his fees were more than reasonable. I simply cannot imagine who some of his other reviewers on this website are talking about (my ex hated him, so I can only assume that the ridiculously negative reviews were written by someone on the other side of his case!), Tony is the best, if you need a divorce attorney then look no further!!!

I was very fortunate, under very unfortunate circumstances, to work with Mr. Marucci on my Divorce. Faced with unscrupulous people with very deep pockets, Mr. Marucci not only won my divorce but also saved me thousands of dollars in the process. He was incredibly easy to talk to and was always very responsive to my requests. That was important to me because it saved me a lot of stress during the entire process. The other major asset Mr. Marucci has is the fact that he's a kind, understanding and compassionate human being. Not only with me, his client, but for my ex-wife who was in an extremely dangerous position during our Divorce. He understood those dangers and made sure to not put her in further jeopardy - while fully protecting me at the same time. That says a lot about someone in his position and in today's legal environment. He went out of his way for everyone involved with the divorce. The bottom line, Anthony Marucci cares. I wouldn't hesitate for a split second in recommending him to anyone in need of an outstanding, extremely knowledgeable, always thorough and responsive, compassionate Attorney and friend.

Mr. Marucci is representing me in a very contentious divorce. I spoke to Mr. Marucci about the reviews I recent read on this site (which he hadn't even seen before). He pointed out that one of the reviews involved an individual who acknowldges that Mr. Marucci did not represent him in the real estate transaction, yet this person was upset when his bankruptcy fraud was uncovered during the course of the transaction. I cannot imagine how another reviewer could claim that services he rendered in arbitration were not effective, he has assisted two of my friends in resolving their matters (on of which referred me to him) promptly and at a very fair cost, I could only imagine that reviewer was completely unreasonable and didn't want to settle. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Was not a good choice for us and he got to emotionally involved in the case. Lots of letters, meetings and fees that were just a waste of time & money. He could not get anything done with negotiations or communicate any type of resolution. In my opinion he is not Trustworthy and I did not feel conformable working with him. Totally disappointed !

Sam Stoia represented me for almost a year during my divorce. When things got stressful and problems arose, Sam was always there to put out the fires. He was quick to call and/or email me back and extremely prepared in court. He has been very informative and knowledgeable throughout my entire case and made everything much easier on my end. He was also honorable in the sense that he never wanted to waste my money on frivolous court battles throughout the case. In the end, I was very happy with the divorce settlement and most of all forever grateful for Sam's work during the worst year of my life.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Livingston, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
