I'm quite disappointed that the agreement I signed and the one I carried with me into the courtroom are not the same.Nothing is changing as I wanted, and you imposed a $19,000 council charge WITHOUT GETTING MY CONSENT.Your company has not submitted any previous bills or unpaid charges.I realized after writing the paper that I hadn't read the printout first.I trusted you that whatever editing was done would appear in the divorce decree.Sadly, I discovered today that it was a trick game and that what was shown to me on the laptop was quite different from what I had actually written. If there are any outstanding invoices or other obligations, you cannot enter without being detected. Also,Chris You've demonstrated repeatedly that you shouldn't be trusted. You requested that I lend you $40,000 while I was unable to contact my daughters, and only then did you mail the other attorney to request that Bhupesh unblock my number.Additionally, you yelled at me in court during the second TRO to sign the document and promised to submit a motion, which you failed to do, leaving me in serious debt. How can a lawyer sneak in such a large sum of money without the client's consent? It appears that everyone is fussing over me.When you were sneaking in the divorce paperwork, I did figure out that there was something fishy going on. Iam sad that Melissa was not there to review the paper version . I also think you are working with Mahesh to make me sign the deal. Also, whenever i called your office for issue you secretary Addriana told me that i cannot come to the office..

I hired chris olsen to defend my son on a domestic violence issue in which my son is innocent & defended himself. He never filed for a detainer hearing, & did more for the prosecutor than the case at hand, always letting my son know what the prosecutor said, not defending my son. He misled me by saying he had it in the bag, familiar with the judges & the goins on in the court.

If your innocent do not go into court alone call Chris. Chris was just absolutely perfect. I live far from the jurisdiction where my case was and Chris actually had my appearance waved multiple times and went to court for me. And got me the deal i asked if he could get for me. On top of it all highly affordable and worked with me on payment plan. Great guy superior work at the best price. A++

December 6, 2017 I found Mr. Olsen from on-line search. He talked to me directly without secretarial interference and leaving back and forth messages. He was very clear about what was involved in my traffic violation, what options I had with their impact on my driving record and premiums, and how will he be able to help me. When I had difficulty in comprehending all legal words, he was nice enough to explain me via email. There was absolutely no rush at all in pushing me to utilize his services; he gave me enough time to think about my options. His fees were reasonable. At the court he came on time, greeted me with his God blessed smile, and got the work done as expected. He was easily available to answer all the questions even after the court matter ended. Any time I sent him an email or called on phone, he answered promptly. Besides being a good attorney, he is a gentleman. He is very professional in his dealings and compassionate about his work. I will definitely use his services if I need (hopefully not!) his help for his expertise; and would highly recommend him to anyone who might be looking for legal help in general and traffic laws in particular. Lois represented me as at the victim/plaintiff in a domestic violence case, where I was seeking to obtain a civil restraining order. Lois took the time to explain all my options and helped me pick the one that best fit the circumstances and met my needs. Throughout every step of the process, she went above and beyond to assure that I felt safe and comfortable. Lois’ extensive knowledge of the law and compassionate, kind presence brought a sense of order and safety back into my life. With her support, I successfully obtained a retraining order and full possession of my house. It has been four and a half years since Lois represented me. The memory of my domestic violence experience has thankfully faded into the past. Yet, I will always remember and be appreciative of her excellent legal representation and support.

Having lived in the US for some years, I have never met a more professional and more compassionate person as Mr. Weiss. My case was far from complicated. Almost trivial, but it was a very important case to me. I needed re-affirmation that I could survive alone in this country and remain who I am. He helped me when I needed it the most. Mr. Weiss goes above and beyond to accommodate his clients and eagerly directs people to a professional who he thinks would be better equipped to assist a person. He is a really great human being! You took the stress out of my life and restored my faith in myself and others. Your faith, knowledge and determination were amazing. Stay blessed and please accept my sincerest wishes of happiness, health and prosperity for you and your family.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Metuchen, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
