Excellent! Returns calls and emails you to keep you updated. Jeffrey Walters definitely knows Law and the old saying you get what you pay for. He will go above and beyond. Please note his 5 star rating. I always look to ratings and if I could give him more I would. Highly recommended and he is worth every dime. Thanks Jeffrey.

My case is still on going, however I am very pleased with Mr. Walters services and Happy I chose to go with him at my attorney. He makes himself available when you call to speak with him and is willing to listen to my many concerns/questions without hesitation. Thank you Mr. Walters!

I was in a bit of a jam after being awarded a bid on a property. The timing between contract receipt and signature requirements was rather short. I contacted Jeff to consult on the contract received and he was excellent. Went above my expectations and clearly knows the law. Was always available when I called the office.

If you find yourself in the unfortunate position to need a bankruptcy attorney, I highly recommend Jeffrey Walters. Jeff went above and beyond what I expected. Thanks to his hard work, knowledge, and experience, I was able to obtain a fresh start quickly. As someone who had always had very good credit, the idea of filing bankruptcy was scary. I did extensive research and met with several attorneys before I decided to hire Jeff. Now that my case has concluded, I’m pleased to say that I couldn’t be happier with my decision to use Jeff. For me, the most important thing that differentiates Jeff from other attorneys is his attention to detail. He took the time to understand my situation and did a detailed analysis. Other attorneys told me that I didn’t have any choice and that I had to file a Chapter 13. Jeff’s understanding of the intricacies of the law and thorough analysis of my situation led him to conclude that I could file a Chapter 7 instead. Everything went perfectly and I was able to wipe out my debts and be out of bankruptcy in a few months. If I had done the Chapter 13, as other attorneys said, I would have been in bankruptcy for 5 years and would have had to make Trustee payments every month. Jeff walked me through the process and kept me informed throughout. He was always available by phone and email when I had questions (I had a lot!). Even after the case was finished, whenever I had questions about anything he always got back to me just as quickly as he did while my case was going on. His knowledge and experience were really comforting to me. I highly recommend Jeff as a bankruptcy attorney.

I retained Mr. Walters for a real estate case. I picked him after searching online for lawyers in the Mt Laurel, Marlton area. I made a few calls, and Mr. Walters was the most affordable, compared to other law firms in the area. I'm a single, hourly-wage retail worker so I was on a budget. Also, what really made me want to retain him (besides his years of experience in the field) was that he personally answers phone calls. You are not passed on to an assistant or a paralegal or anyone like that. He himself gives you the time, talks to you, and even calls you back if needed. His expertise proved very useful in my case and he was able to resolve the case without any problems. I will not hesitate to retain him again for any real estate deal.

I worked with Lisa Green on several very difficult cases. She was really, really great to work with, and very responmsive. I am a person who likes to get involved in any litigation I am involved in, and Lisa really understood the issues, and provided us with a very well thought out defense. Her discovery skills were superb, and the outcome of both cases were very good for both my company and my professional liability carrier. I would easily recommend Lisa Green to other potential clients.

Being involved in this type of civil suit first time, the experience was a terrifying one for me personally and professionally. Mr. Cuddihy truly acted in my best interest, protected those interests and defended me with authentic concern and regard. Mr. Cuddihy kept me informed throughout all of the twists and turns of this journey in a calm and balanced perspective. He was extremely generous with his time in understanding the intricacies of my case and handled the vast majority of the communications with me personally. I never felt that I was simply another client of a large firm. I credit him with the successful closing of this case and cannot imagine having gone through this experience with any other attorney. I would strongly recommend Mr. Cuddihy.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Mount Laurel, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
