Cons
1
Potential inconsistency in presenting strategy and approach
“Initially stated he could do the case, but was vague with what we had to " fight" with. So I paid a good amount of money to review case after he said what petitions he could file and requested a retainer. After expressing concerns in regards to retaining him and not knowing how he would approach the case, ie: what was our argument. He stated an entirely different view and said he doesn't think he should work on the case.”
2
Concerns about providing realistic expectations for criminal cases
“He stated " middle class" needs to be careful with money with criminal cases. I would not recommend him, I had multiple other concerns just to much to write.”

Over four years ago I was having a difficult time with the initial firm that was handling my worker's compensation case. A friend recommended the services of Mr. Kendall Medway at Levinson Axelrod and I could not be anymore pleased with the experience of working with Mr. Medway. Mr. Medway's expertise and persistence is truly something to be admired. He kept me fully informed and up-to-date every step of the way and was immediately available to help with any question or concern that I may have had. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Mr. Medway and Levinson Axelrod.

I got injured at my job in April 2022, after which my employer started treating me unfairly-- the employer didn't even allow me to see an actual doctor until almost a year after the injury occurred. I was misdiagnosed by their urgent care reps and by a therapist who told me I was basically faking the injury and gave me physical therapy exercises that caused me more pain. I reached out to a number of lawyers who dismissed me, until I came across Mr. Kendall Medway. From the day I walked into his office he reassured me that he would do all that he could to help me. As far as I am aware, he did just that. Mr. Medway led me through the workers compensation process, which took nearly two years. We reached a settlement in February 2024. I am satisfied with the outcome and that I chose Levinson Axelrod for my workers compensation claim.

Chris DeAngelo was my lawyer and the outcome was even better than I could have imagined. He argued my case in a very effective manner and I was more than pleased with the outcome. His assistant Paula kept me updated throughout the process and explained everything along the way. I couldn't be happier. I recommend him to anyone looking for a personal injury attorney and you would be assured a wonderful outcome if he handled your case.

I had pleasure to speak with Michael only once. But I do have experience of working with a number of other lawyers and feels very confident in making a comparison. I am in the process of a high conflict divorce for almost 4 years that has destroyed emotional and psychological well being of everyone, including 4 children. Unfortunately, all lawyers, mediators and even Judges, who can be knowledgeable but they just don’t care about this aspect of the problem. I found whole legal system of NJ as extremely oppressive rather than helpful. Until a victim of the offense concedes to the offender and willing to accept all bullying and gaslighting, this legal system won't do anything. No one would even listen to such a victim of manipulation and abuse, who will ultimately be forced to subdue to offender, via a bullying process, known as mediation. NJ family court is really a banana republic. The one who can bully will gain. The one who will be a good law abiding citizen will lose. The offender would want to prolong in lust of power of abuse and to enjoy ability to inflict the torture. The attorneys would want the same as victims of abuse are a source of regular income... The children will be a collateral damage due to undue delay by the legal experts including attorneys and the Judge. Therefore, the Judge and attorneys will be on same page with the offender to deny all facts and to reject all evidences related to harms and damages that occured to the children due to undue prolongation of high conflicts divorce. Victim will be all alone to complains about abuse and manipulation in desperation to find relief but no one is there to provide and there will tons of shut up calls. Michael is definitely a different voice. He has empathy and sincerity of a good man. Other law experts that I have worked with including mediators and Judges are completely devoid of this empathy. They won't even acknowledge one's right of free will and it won't be a big deal for them if such rights been abrogated every day.

Being involved in this type of civil suit first time, the experience was a terrifying one for me personally and professionally. Mr. Cuddihy truly acted in my best interest, protected those interests and defended me with authentic concern and regard. Mr. Cuddihy kept me informed throughout all of the twists and turns of this journey in a calm and balanced perspective. He was extremely generous with his time in understanding the intricacies of my case and handled the vast majority of the communications with me personally. I never felt that I was simply another client of a large firm. I credit him with the successful closing of this case and cannot imagine having gone through this experience with any other attorney. I would strongly recommend Mr. Cuddihy.

I worked with Lisa Green on several very difficult cases. She was really, really great to work with, and very responmsive. I am a person who likes to get involved in any litigation I am involved in, and Lisa really understood the issues, and provided us with a very well thought out defense. Her discovery skills were superb, and the outcome of both cases were very good for both my company and my professional liability carrier. I would easily recommend Lisa Green to other potential clients.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Mount Laurel, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
