Carolina assisted me with an ongoing matter that I had with a neighbor in the apartment complex I lived in. For over 1 year, we had multiple complaints with these neighbors to the building management that included several calls to the local police department. Unfortunately, our building management didn't do anything to rectify the situation. Our complaints really fell on deaf ears. All that changed when I reached out and hired Carolina to handle the matter. Carolina got immediate results after we hired her. She was able to not only get building management's attention but was instrumental in helping us reach a release agreement to break our lease earlier. I really appreciate how Carolina handled this matter. My only regret was not hiring her earlier. I give her an A+ for service and an A+ for getting results.

Word cannot express my gratitude for Carolina Calderon. Her legal knowledge and dedication to getting my security deposit back were phenomenal. I wanted to settle for just getting the security deposit back however, she knew I was entitled to more and kept fighting until she secured additional funds without going to court. If you are reading this, allow me to introduce you to your attorney.

Carolina was incredibly attentive with the details of my case. She should careful attention to the details of the case, was insightful and showed deep knowledge of the rules surrounding my case. Importantly, she stayed on top of timeline, filings, and looked after my desk interests. I would resoundingly recommen Carolina Calderon to anyone seeking support with a landlord tenant dispute.

CCC Law Offices , Carolina Caldron, was exceptional. Her Knowledgeable and thorough ways helped to shed a new light and solution to a persistent complex real estate issue that no other attorney could resolve for me. I have spent countless amounts of money with other attorneys only to keep hitting a wall and not getting my issue resolved. Calderon really investigated and researched numerous possibilities to resolve my situation while never giving up. Her persistence and research has helped me resolve my situation, after years of trying to resolve this matter and countless attorneys I wish I would have found her services from the start.

Intelligent, Professional, Practical and Always Ahead of the Game! I retained Jason Roth for a divorce matter. It was a very difficult time for me because my family was struck by a tragedy at the same time and I had no energy to deal with anything else. Mr. Roth was very sympathetic, understanding and very flexible. I liked his candid and straight forward conversation style, he does not hesitate to paint a picture for a client in real colors of life and reality, at the same time he is quick to think outside of the box how to bridge those tough spots with applicable law and right strategy. Any of my calls or emails were always answered within minutes and I felt very secure that I had trustworthy and competent professionals on my side.

As you will agree, preparing and filing for divorce is a difficult and stressful time. Finding a good and trustworthy lawyer is critical and equally daunting. After 28 years of marriage I was very much there. I selected two lawyers based on strong reviews. Left a message for both. Jason called back in less than 5 minutes. He took time to listen to my case and patiently addressed all my questions. We had a follow-up call. Again, he was calm, thorough and took time to set very clear expectations of what was to come. I decided to go with him. Over the coming months, Jason always made time for me, never once rushed me, always proactive and continued to respond within minutes, even to my non-urgent emails over the weekend and while on vacation. From a skill perspective he is exemplary, providing guidance and consistently striking that balance between being empathetic and offering fact-based guidance. He was always quick to tell me if my expectations were too high or let me know if I was giving too much. He was my counsel and shrink, sometimes just listening and at other times offering guidance and support. So many things can go wrong with this process, so many uncontrollable elements but with his diligent approach and stellar communication, Jason maintained credibility and control. Right to the end, there were no surprises, at least not in a bad way! From the time I signed to the video call for final judgement of divorce, I felt supported and knew exactly what to expect. Following his advice, I feel that the entire process was smooth and fair. Jason is kind, empathetic, effective and incredibly trustworthy. I’m not one to write reviews, but previous reviews from others helped me find the right representation and I felt compelled to write this up. I am hoping this will help others in the future. Thank you, Jason!

I first heard about Hope Lang after reading an article that was in the Star-Ledger about her employment law practice. After being let go from my job at 7 months pregnant I sought out the expertise of Hope Lang to represent me in a litigation concerning pregnancy discrimination. I was very impressed with her knowledge on the topic and her determination to seek out all of the facts regarding my discrimination. She not only showed devotion to my case by continuing to use her knowledge of the law to extensively research and analyze all facts regarding my discrimination but she also showed compassion and took the time to answer any questions I had regarding my case. She continually kept me informed regarding my discrimination case and after months of representing me I was happy with the positive outcome. I would definitely recommend Hope Lang to anyone in need of legal assistance. Her expertise along with her compassion on seeking out the truth to help out those who have been discriminated against are wonderful qualities to have in a lawyer.

Hope A. Lang has been instrumental in a positive outcome when representing me at a litigation concerning employment law. She was the most effective attorney I ever met. The law firm I went to before her, told me I did not have a case. Hope delved deeply into the facts surrounding the termination and discrimination against me and agreed to represent me. I am so glad I went to her for a second opinion. She delved deeper and deeper into the facts and legal analysis, uncovering more and more to support my case. She was a skilled negotiator, and a pit bull master of the legal process. What perhaps even meant more to me, was her depth of compassion and how supportive she was of me and understanding the stress I was experiencing because of my former harrowing job experience. No other lawyer would have gone into the depths. She was always professional and very patient in answering all of my questions and explaining things to me. I firmly believe that if I had hired any other attorney, the outcome would not be positive. The reason for this is that she delved deeply into my testimony, and then delved even deeper to find the truth. I would highly recommend Ms. Lang for your case as I know she will do the same for you. She spent many months on my position, again with a very positive outcome.

After I was turned down by a large employment law firm, I went to Hope A. Lang, Esq She accepted my case and filed a lawsuit case based on age discrimination on my behalf. The case was settled to my complete satisfaction. I was very impressed with Ms. Lang's professional handling of all details and the ease with which she kept me in the loop on the legal technicalities.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Oradell, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
