This past Fall I found myself in a domestic violence situation that could not be ignored. I interviewed several lawyers always bringing a family member with me. I was searching for a gut feeling and that happened when I met Sal & I hired him. Throughout this daunting, nerve wracking experience, Sal put my mind at ease& just knew when I needed a kind word to get me thru. Sal takes no B. S. from the adversary & was smart in his responses. Sal was thorough, listened & addressed any concerns I had & always kept me in the loop.He had my full trust and was more than fair with the time he gave me and how I was billed. I felt then and still do, that not only was he my lawyer but a family friend. I 100 percent recommend Sal Simeone!

* If you looking for an attorney to tell you what you want to hear & when you want to hear it, I suggest you move on to the next review since Sal Simeone’s not that type of a lawyer. Although, if your searching for a truly Great ethical lawyer, with a solid reputation who’s respected in the courts while getting the job done for you and your children, Sal Simeone is your man!! With close to 30 years experience Sal has dealt with all aspect of family law and I’m extremely thankful for him & his team. I was recommended to Sal in 2016 from a reputable Morris county lawyer who knew my divorce would be high conflict. I was told Sal Simone would be the best for what was ahead in my case. I’m grateful that I took that advise because after 4 false TRO’s, several motions and a trial for a final TRO that was dismissed. Sal and his team were always on their “A” game all the time no matter what was taking place. No matter how my emotions escalated based on so many false allegations and my concerns for the children. Sal and Matt always kept me focused, had a plan in place along with making me realize that the truth would come out in the end, which it eventually did. With all the false TRO’s, many crazy allegations and much more, Sal was by my side for it all, while still being the best advocate for the children. Through everything my children have been living with me full-time since 11/2017 and still are today. So if you’re looking for someone who will put your best interest first along with someone you can call SEVEN DAYS a week from 8am-11pm for those crazy weekends, Sal is your lawyer period! It’s great to know when things get a little nutty which they will, your always able to speak with Sal for that quick advice so you not in the wrong. Based on everything that my children and I went through, I considered that accessibility to Sal at all times to be priceless for sure. When you deal directly with Sal there’s no leaving messages in the morning while hoping he gets back to you before 5pm. Sal gets back to you quick no matter what day or time period. Besides all the great points I’ve already made just realize that Sal truly shines even much more in the courtroom. No matter if it’s a simple motion or days of a trial, Sal is always prepared to do whatever it takes for the children and his client best interest. I’ve known Sal Simeone since 2016 and we still talk today as he’s always checking on the kids to see how things are going. I consider Sal a very good friend and great divorce attorney. I have and always will continue to recommend Sal and his team to anyone I hear of going down that rough road of divorce. Best of luck and just know you’ll come out the other side. Louis Curcione III- Madison, NJ Primary Parent of 2 teenagers since 11/2017! Good Luck

I was referred to Sal Simeone thru a friend with a post divorce issue also. My case was about terminating alimony due to ex claiming he was disabled. He was still working, never applied for disability. This was a frustrating time. Sal continually spoke to me calmly with reassuring words. He kept me focused and on point to the matter on hand. Sal saw thru the Smoke Screen the ex & his attorney were trying to pull. When I would get caught up in the drama & get so tired of it, he would have another strategy to offer. I always hung up the phone feeling he had my back and filled with confidence. The post divorce issues can be just as emotional as the divorce, you need Sal, he is fair, level thinker and supports your interests at all times. He was always available to answer my concerns, and kept me informed on everything. I was not disappointed with Sal and neither will you be. Call him for your consult and after you will feel like a weight has been lifted, Sal will fight for you.

Mr. Ackerman provided great service representing us in the sale of our home. Our concessions to the buyers were kept to a minimum due to his wisdom. He is very down to earth and easy to communicate with. In addition, his paralegal, Shay, was tremendous! We were able to communicate with her literally any time of day or night and she is very pleasant to work with. I would HIGHLY recommend them for any type of legal work. Thank you Mr. Ackerman and Shay!

A HUGE THANK YOU to The Weinberger Law Group (Parsippany) , Komal Ullah Esq., Jaclyn Kahn Esq. and Bari Weinberger Esq. I have to mention all three because each deserve an acknowledgment of their family law expertise like no other attorneys that you may find. The Weinberger Law Group has represented me in my post divorce litigation for over 4 years and has always risen above and beyond any adversary. The amount of knowledge just one of these great attorneys I mentioned posses, is equivalent to a handful of others. For the curious looking at reviews, for those looking to hire top notch attorneys, I am a male and praise The Weinberger Law Firm and their Prestigious group. My post divorce litigation involved obtaining more parenting time with my children, parenting time obstruction by my ex-wife, child support, constant false allegations of domestic violence and pretty much a large list of evilness brought forth in motions filed by her. Komal Ullah Esq. and Jaclyn Kahn Esq. have recently (6/2016) represented me in an extremely lengthy matter with my ex-wife which could have HAD significant impact in my livelihood. Once again, I had no worry in the world with this firm representing me, even against her “big shot” attorneys who cost her double. If you truly want the Best, most Knowledgeable, feel Comfortable because they care about Your case, so you can Rest assured attorneys, The Weinberger Law Group is where you can find them.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Parsippany, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
