I am extremely satisfied with the legal services I received from Mike and Noreen. From the beginning, Mike was straightforward and clear about my options and what to expect throughout the process. He was always prepared, and advocated effectively on my behalf. Noreen was also great to work with. She was always responsive to my calls and emails, and kept me updated on the progress of my case. I never felt left in the dark or unsure about what was happening. Mike and Noreen are a very competent professional team who I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone seeking legal assistance.

I wouldn’t ask for a better representing lawyer as Benjamin Hoffman. I reached out to them to get my kids rights in the house we live in, after their father took me to court and tried to claim half of the house despite our agreement before the divorce. Benjamin was very attentive, listened to me and all the case details carefully during the initial consultation before I even hired them. He knew exactly my family’s circumstances and thought of every way to protect my children’s rights, always discussing progress and all the document details with me. Making sure I know all my choices and all the possible results. Very punctuate and would accommodate my work schedule to make sure I am able to talk to him. He used every piece of evidence I gave him perfectly and got my kids their rights in their house back. Every person I dealt with in the staff was very respectful and pleasant. Even the billing department. I Highly recommend them.

Michael is a prompt, accessible, and highly professional lawyer. From the first meeting I was gladly surprised that unlike other lawyers who like to dictate what to do and how the thing should be done, Michael took into consideration all my thoughts and needs developing the plan how best to resolve the issue. He was excellent in oral and written arguments. With Michael’s help I achieved most of my goals in an extremely complicated divorce matter and I thank G-d that He brought me to him.

Michael was referred to me from my previous attorney who was retiring. At first I was a little bit skeptical about the transfer because I was litigating a very high conflict divorce. At the present time I am still getting to know Michael a little bit better but however during the last two court appearances he has demonstrated that he has the skills and knowledge to be an excellent divorce attorney. I used to stay up for many nights and weekends trying to prepare my motions as best I can to assist my attorney but now I no longer worry too much because I know I am in good hands with Michael. He is excellent when it comes to litigations and oral arguments. I would highly recommend to all friends and family who is going through a divorce to give him a chance to demonstrate his skills.

Fred Sisto was responsive to all my questions and concerns. He was empathetic to my situation and sought results that met my needs and expectations. He delivered on his promises and helped make me aware of all my options. I couldn't have been happier. I hired him for a criminal case, I got to keep my license, and I did not have to face any probation. These were the results I wanted and Fred made it happen.

i hired Mr. Sisto to defend me on a criminal case. He was extremely knowledgable in my charge, and felt very confident he could have my charge dismissed. We decided to go to trial with the charge, and when trial day came, he was able to dismiss my case without me even taking the stand. I highly recommend Mr. Sisto for any type of legal defense. He is very smart and definitely takes pride in winning/beating cases.

Fred was very professional and personal. He made a difficult time much easier to deal with. Fred got a charge dropped and another one lessened so that I do not have a record. I am very appreciative for the time and effort he put into my case.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
