We recently sold our residence and purchased another home. The experience we had with Doreen and her law firm was more than gratifying. Their expertise and advice made the transition seemless and without any difficulties. Their personal interest in our move gave us a sense of calm and confidence. I waited to write this review because I wanted to be fair. I have been an emergency room physician for 35 years. I have worked closely with many professionals during that time. My Experience with Winn Law was horrendous. At first I thought that the reason for so many conflicts occurring in the advice from this law firm was because there was a lack of expertise. As I review the events I realize that this is probably not true. The lawyer knew exactly what she was doing. Unfortunately, she had little concern for our feeling and legal rights. She was working it seems mainly for the real estate agent who referred her to us. I now understand that this was really our mistake. Never ask your realtor for a legal referral. During the process of selling our home of twenty years, a realtor from the buyers agency Christies decided that all the window treatments in our house should go to the buyer despite there being no legal precedent for this. One lawyer from Winn Law Amanda who was very good told us this was not the case, she was willing to argue this point. Doreen Winn however, sided with the buyer saying even though they had no claim to the $40,000.00 in window treatments that we should just give them to the buyer. She said this despite the fact that the window treatments coordinated with the our rugs and furnishings. The closing on our new home was delayed, making it impossible for us to close on time. Even though Amanda had scheduled the final walkthrough for 4 pm, the buyer arrived at 2:30 PM. Doreen Winn called telling us to get out of the house now. We explained we were still cleaning and still had things to take and wanted a final walkthrough to make sure everything was done. I was told that I always have an excuse. I have never been spoken to by a professional like that. So in conclusion, never take a referral from your real estate agent. Stay away from Winn Law unless you are ok with a lawyer who does not effectively represent your interests but rather is concerned only with making sure the deal happens. Stay away from Winn Law in Saddle River if you are looking for an attorney who has respect and empathy for you as a client.
