Whitney Chelnik skillfully guided me through the steps to get alimony terminated, in one trip to court, and with a one-hearing process. After negotiations failed to produce a reasonable response from my ex, Whitney advised filing a motion. Her 128 page motion document explained and argued my case effectively with clarity, logic, and a lot of detailed work to make her arguments clear in court. That paid off on hearing day. The judge called for oral argument, ably handled by Whitney as he heard about 1/2 hour's worth from each attorney, then took five days to write a six page opinion, which terminated alimony retroactive, without any plenary or any more time, stress, or legal fees. Throughout she was a good communicator, handled some nasty letters well without sending back cheap shots, but making clear our position that, at 70 as I retired I was entitled to say goodbye to alimony. Whitney tried hard to avoid court. She took on my case after a general purpose attorney found my ex totally resistant to any consent, one month before my retirement date. She skillfully reorganized my CIS, carried on talks with the opposing attorney, and after three months passed without a settlement she advised fiing a motion. Both prior to and during the motion preparation, she was always aware of the details of my case, and explained her strategies and what was needed from me. This is the ideal way a great attorney works with a client, not with a "leave everything to me" but with a real working relationship where she knows her way and executes very well. It was a huge relief as I enter my retirement years to have the burden of alimony lifted without an enormous new saga of courtroom delay or drama. I had good case, and yes New Jersey recently changed its laws in the favor of alimony payors who retire at or after full retirement age, but, a good attorney is still essential to success and keeping the stress at a minimum. Great job.

Whitney managed the pre court negotiation with excellent communication both with ne and with the opposing attorney as I sought to terminate alimony on my retirement. When negotiations stalled and ny ex refused reasonable offers she filed a motion. After he geard oral testinony the judge wrote a six page opinion accepting all of Whitney's carefully prepared argument and exhibits and so with only one trip to court alimony was terminated without a plenary and without further fuss or expense retroactive to filing date. My ex had rejected two offers both higher than what the judge gave her. This is my idea of a worthy plea extremely well handled against strong opposition with a speedy and good result. Whitney had also ably handled pension division for me several years ago and when the retirement issue looked contested I turned to her again.

I had many difficulties with a very litigious, abusive plaintiff who was exploiting the legal system. Ms. Chelnik marshaled my defense in both an effective and compassionate manner. She did an excellent job.

Whitney Chelnik is an excellent lawyer. She knows the law inside and out, but more important, she knows her clients inside and out. She has always been responsive to me and *my* needs. I'm a real person to her, not just a client file number. She also has found ways to achieve great results for me creatively, and sometimes by listening to me but then steering me in a better direction than I had thought. Most recently, she achieved a big court win for me that saved me lots of money based on a very well-reasoned interpretation of my divorce agreement. The judge handed us every bit of what Whitney had very impressively argued for.

Whitney and the staff at Gomperts, Penza and McDermott LLC, helped me through a very difficult time and made my experience much more palpable. Whitney (and Erica) were very attentive, responsive and professional and made me feel at ease throughout the entire process. What I expected to be an unpleasant time was both positive and sensible.

I had changed lawyers and hired Whitney Chelnik during my divorce process and was extremely satisfied. Whitney attempted to move the process along and was a very good mediator under very difficult conditions. She always stayed composed and utilized appropriate judgement in my case. I always felt confident that Whitney had my best interest in heart and made me feel comfortable when proceedings had gone awry. She counseled me on not being emotional and understanding New Jersey's matrimonial laws. This way I understood why she was making certain suggestions and compromising. Whitney was always available when I had questions or when important decisions had to be made. If she was unavailable, her legal secretary was well informed and diligent. She would always reach out and get an answer for me in a timely fashion. I found Whitney Chelnik to be a confident, compassionate, intelligent, honest attorney. She had integrity and I always felt I could trust her. Whitney was knowledgeable in negotiations and always attempted to mediate my case and not go to trial. She acted fairly on my behalf. I have been divorced for 1 -1/2 yrs and I would recommend Whitney Chelnik to whomever requires matrimonial assistance.

I would recommend Whitney Chelnik to anyone who knows that they will be facing a difficult divorce. My divorce started in 2009 and ended in 2012. However, there are still unresolved issues and Whitney is still representing me on some of the issues. She dealt with my exhusband's three attorneys (yes three) very well. Whitney is very knowledgeable, supportive, and a dedicated atttorney. I always did and continue to feel comfortable communicating with Whitney. She is someone you can rely on, someone you can trust, and someone who can even give you a hug when you need it most. I recommend Whitney Chelnik if you want someone who cares and knows what they are doing.
