I have been a client of Ali's for over 10 years. I came to her when I was just stating the divorce process. She helped and guided me through the very difficult process of navigating the muddy waters. I had young children at the time and a very difficult ex who tried to make everything as hard as possible for me. I can't tell you how much her support and no nonsense approach helped me. I have one last hurdle of college to get thru and I will be done. I can honestly say that thru the years Ali has become my friend. I dont know how many people can say something like that, but I can. Need the house re-deeded, since we hadn't done so, since we were married over 10 years ago. Ali (Smedley) quickly pulled up the prior deed, and prepared and filed the updated deed, all at a very reasonable cost. We'd definitely use her again, for our legal needs.

I was told my uncontested divorce would cost about 3k. 6 months later, I don’t even have a court date yet and I’ve paid her over 7 thousand dollars. I am over twice the amount she said. They don’t contact me ever about my case!!!!!! The only time they reach out to me is to tell me they are taking more money. I have also been billed for services I did not receive. Really disappointed as she came high recommended, I think I didn’t have enough money for her to care about, it’s obvious my case isn’t important to them.

Where do I start. I am now 26K in debt. Super simple divorce (no property) with custody that Ali made into a money pit. She kept saying it was a contested divorce but really there was nothing to contest. Absolutely horrible communication. The only time they really communicated was when they wanted more money. We still haven't even gone to court. She had multiple "vacancies" in her staff during the 4 months I used her service. I wonder why? Yes, 26K in 4 MONTHS. I could understand if there was a lot of property or bills and assets to separate or high wage earners married for years but we talking about 2 married less than a year (24 years old) with one working minimum wage. Ali would say "she's asking for alimony, but know she won't get it" so she would call it contested. ALIMONY??? REALLY?? She only said that so she could justify asking for money. And when the crazy mother started keeping the child away from my son, she wrote some long drawn out plea to the court (which cost me over $2000) and did absolutely no good. This after I told her she was wasting her time (and MY MONEY) She would say " if you want to go over any of the charges" How do you contest something you can't prove was done? I should have been forewarned when Rosemary (she's one of the ones that doesn't work there anymore) told me that they had a case that was simple like my son's but the husband and wife were unemployed and they charged them 25K. How do you charge an unemployed client 25K?? Either that was a lie or they truly are very unscrupulous. More than likely both. This firm is typical of the type of firm that give lawyers a bad name. Lastly, her add makes it sound like she cares but when you see the bills you can tell what she really cares about.

We had Ali Smedley represent us in the matter of adopting our former foster daughter. She was extremely thorough and professional throughout the entire process. Horrible. Highly unprofessional, unresponsive and apparently doesn’t know how to use email. Sent the wrong thing to me and while doing so I found out that she was calling me awful names because I was fearful of the safety of myself and others and therefore asked the same question twice. When confronted Alison made up a horrible lie which just made it worse, since at that point she was just insulting my intelligence. She made an already VERY stressful situation even worse.

I’ve been working with Ali Smedley off and on for over 10 years now. She has been excellent in helping navigate a complex family situation. I would have no reservations about recommending her to others.
