Terrible new client interactions. You will not get a meaningful consultation. During the "consultation", I was asked the same questions for a 3rd time by a 3rd person. A person who seemingly knew absolutely nothing about the law, my case, or how it might be handled. They had not even familiarized themselves with what info had already answered / provided. It was like them trying to sell me a car without letting me see the car, or the salesperson knowing anything about the car. Just them asking for a $5,000 check.

Non contested divorce, yet they are keep billing me, retainer was $5000.
Imagine if it was a contentious situation, how much this law firm would charge me? Not worth hiring them, I am already going through a tough time. This law firm is adding agony to it. Not recommending this firm, there are way cheaper and good lawyers , just don't fall for thier Facebook ads. I found them on Facebook and made the wrong decision.

Kito was my consultant and he was extremely friendly and understanding. This firm cares about fathers and father's rights, which is rare for NYS.
UPDATE: This law firm finally got me sole custody. I've been fighting for years and this firm got it done. For all the fathers in this state; use this firm. They care about father's rights and do their utmost to get you what you deserve. I cannot thank them enough!!

Employed Colwell for a custody case. First lawyer seemed disinterested and unhelpful. Was appointed Kyle Starks after that. He was attentive, reachable, and truly cared about me and my kids. We were successful in large part to his counsel and work. Highly recommend.

Divorce is probably the most frightening thing I have ever had to go through in my life. Nothing can prepare you for what you're going to experience - whether that be emotionally, monetarily, or just the sheer amount of knowledge required to navigate through. Picking the right law group and then attorney/lawyer is just the beginning. The options are endless and you can only hope you make the right decision. I was assigned to Marissa Gordon, and words truly cannot express how thankful and lucky I am. From the beginning she was beyond approachable and made herself available for every question/concern/need/etc. in a very timely manner. I cannot begin to explain how scared this whole situation has made me feel, but at the end of the day I felt safe knowing that she was handling my case. Thank you for all the care, consideration, and treating me like a human, not just a number. I know this is a decision I'll never regret.

I recently had the opportunity to work with Kyle Starks, a family court lawyer, and i was extremely impressed with the level of professionalism and expertise. Kaitlyn Foley has been a Godsend. She is quick, able to think on her tippy toes, and makes my last lawyer look like a shady vacuum cleaner salesman. She really knows her stuff and corrects my bad ideas that I think are good, into stellar ones.I can't say enough how lucky we are to have her driving, she's done more in 2 months than my past lawyer in 3 yrs.Her attention to detail and her way around my case which was new to her are above and beyond,a real mover and a shaker! Absolutely recommended. Also Lisa Guzzie who was the liaison to the team when we first came to Caldwell was not only a pro but actually made us feel like she cared, and I believe she really did.Custody is a tough battle I'm glad to have Caldwell as our team.

Would highly not recommend. Unless you want to spend 30k on losing your child when it should have been an easy win. I gave them 300 pages of proof and they still lost my child. Due to them being afraid of the other attorney. Lied to me told me I still had custodial custody when I didn't . Wouldn't answer my emails when I asked them about it. It looks like the lawyer could have even got paid off by lying to me and trying to get me to agree to things I shouldn't have. They didn't fight for me at all. Just handed over my 2 year old to my ex husband. Thanks to this law firm I'm still in court over a year and now have lost 40k and still haven't gone to trial. 30k just from emails and putting a child in danger. Their unethical and don't care about you. Money hungry.

AVOID this law group. All they want is money. Almost all of our retainer was used on short emails and 2 virtual court visits where our attorney wouldn’t even ask or say what we wanted. She kept advising us to play along with the mother as if the father doesn’t have any rights. My son could’ve gotten the same visits using a public defender.

Edited: This is a detailed review and I hope it helps others.
Cons:
I did notice the reviews and decided to take the chance anyway. At first, my experience was great. Consultation had me hopeful. However, consultation is not with an attorney. You cannot speak with an attorney until you pay the $6000 retainer fee and sign the Letter of Engagement. Then, you will be assigned an attorney. That is the first red flag.
My attorney is James Lesperance. He is well versed and knowledgeable at what he does. He kept in contact with me quite often in the beginning and communicated well on what to expect in the coming court cases. 100% of the time he was right about what happened. I felt very comfortable with him.
There was a lack in communication in later weeks, but having added a 2-star review, that has since changed. Sometimes you just have a to light a fire to get them moving. James is working diligently on everything for me.
I will say that invoices come in frequently compared to what work is done on your case and that this firm is very costly.
Pros:
Friendly staff during consultation and most calls to the office.
Had a question about my bill which they refunded some of it.
Asked to amend the Engagement Letter, which they allowed.
Attorney is knowledgeable and experienced.
Firm contacted me to assure me that good communication will resume and it has.
My next and hopefully last court date is June 1st. I'm hoping I can increase this review to 4 stars after that. At this time, James, I would give 3/5 stars. The firm itself gets a 3/5.
Update 10/16
I was assigned a new attorney after James Lesperance left (Heather Harp). Well, Heather has also left the firm. Now I am on my third attorney 8 months in with no resolution to my case and THOUSANDS of dollars spent. I have not yet been reached out by the new attorney. I am so frustrated with this firm.
