I used Akram as my private lawyer while going through a mediator for my separation. Not only was he more reasonable than my mediator, He was way more understanding and responsive. The first thing he said as I was rambling on was "Ok, and are YOU ok?" Not only was he professional he was also personable. For the last 11 years I have done things with someone and this was the fist time doing it alone, to say I was nervous on who to pick is an understatement. I really could not have asked for a better lawyer to guide me through this difficult time. Thank you!

He was respectful, honest and polite until my ex reneged on signing. The methods he said to do didn’t work and I needed to go contested. But the attorney avoided my calls and emails. Was willing to pay the extra fees and fight in court but the attorney still avoided me. Also court filling was slightly ($3-$5 and not a big deal) higher than the signed agreed amount than the charged made on my credit card. To conclude, if you and your potential ex are looking for an easy divorce where you both just want someone’s opinion to check and verify items, he is your guy. But if you have any and I mean 1% doubt that your ex isn’t going to agree, this isn’t the lawyer for you. He isn’t going to fight and after the payment he pretty much ghost until you have signed docs. The attorney just wants easy cases for a quick buck.

Great lawyer

Akram Louis is an amazing attorney!!! I cannot stress this fact enough! I had a very difficult, long, drawn out, high conflict divorce and custody battle with my now ex husband of 12 years. Mr Louis is patient and professional. Most importantly he treats you like a human being and works with you to negotiate the best outcome possible. He is not like other attorneys who will keep surprising you with mysterious fees, or who will use up your retainer before the process even truly gets started. He also answers calls and emails in a timely manner and always follows up; which is incredibly important when dealing with court. His rates are fair, straightforward, and he was even willing to work out a negotiated fee with me which made my life easier as a newly single mom on the roller coaster ride that is divorce. The divorce process can be very confusing especially when you’re feeling angry, vulnerable, mentally, emotionally, or financially drained like I was. Akram patiently guided me through it- even during the times when I was at my wits’ end dealing with my ex. Akram is also great at explaining the process and giving you the tools you need to navigate your separation and negotiate your future for yourself and your children successfully which I felt was very empowering. Akram also provides an incredible voice of reason and will fight for you to make sure assets are divided fairly and paperwork is processed judiciously. Even at the end of a nearly 3 year long battle on the last day that my divorce was finalized my ex husband’s attorney didn’t show up Akram guided us both through a fair resolution. My ex was also in the military reserves and a high ranking member of the NYPD. He was so professional even my ex husband shook his hand and complimented him.
