I was very young and poor. I was married to my now ex-husband in 1990. It was 1996 when another attorney recommended Kevin to me. I had been physically separated 4 full years from my soon to be ex-husband. I had met someone shortly after I left my ex with our son. He was order to pay a mere $25 dollars a week from Family Court. I never did receive a dime from the father, but I was working full time and so was my new beau. I was living a happy life with my son and he really loved my boyfriend, so for my future to move forward I needed a divorce. Yet, I was financially strapped and tried filing an uncontested myself. Sadly, I was naive to the court requirements. I was turned away. That was when Kevin stepped in and saved me. He told me to get the money for the RJI and Docket number and we could move forward. He explained he would do the work free of charge. It took 6 short months for me to have a signed divorce in my hands. Now, he asked me if I wanted a job. I immediately accepted. Kevin taught me how to do everything on the computer and I naturally took up organizing everything. After a very short period of time I was a full fledged secretary and process server for a law office. Kevin restored pride in my self and a paycheck. I became pregnant and worked from home answering forwarded call to my home. I took a brief hiatus when Kevin had other work lined up in NYC. I eventually came back to work for Kevin again in 1999. While I worked for Kevin running the ship in his Goshen office I was welcomed to bring my 1 1/2 year old child into work with me everyday. The generous money I earned made me able to pay for my dream wedding. Of course Kevin and his beautiful wife were in attendance. Having had Kevin as not only my attorney, but my boss as well, I can tell you he has been in this business a very long time. I can say that now having practically grown up with Kevin at age 21 and now being a grandmother. He is incredibly smart, driven, dedicated, energetic, fierce, fair, knowledgeable, warm, kind, caring and reasonable. He will not lead you to believe in a fairytale outcome. He may fight hard, but he does so very realistically. I believe the term is, "won't blow smoke up your butt". He will keep your victories in the realm of possibility assuring you to win. I know Kevin personally and he is one of the hardest working attorneys I know. Don't let his youthful appearance fool you, he is a weathered lawyer. I hope this helps anyone on the fence. I hired Kevin to handle divorce and custody. He was very professional and made sure I understood what was going on and gave me options on what to do with every step. Was never pushy. Very reasonable with his fee's. I would recommend and use again if had to.

Entering into divorce proceedings is terrifying. Yet, Kevin was a very calming and knowledgeable professional who made the process go as smoothly as possible. He explained complicated matters with a lot of patience, and responded to emails and calls within a day or so. He also covered in detail the pros and cons of my decisions which enabled me to know exactly where I stood at every step. I, unfortunately, hired 2 lawyers prior to Mr. McDermott. They were both good lawyers but failed to get my divorce settled. Fortunately I found Mr. McDermott who not only finalized my divorce, his legal knowledge and professionalism were beneficial in getting the best settlement for me. His care and concern were unparalleled, his attention to detail was unsurpassed and he has my highest recommendations. I was never a big fan of lawyers until I was in the care of Mr. McDermott. What was a long drawn out process by my ex-wife for her benefit was settled expediently and judiciously under the tutelage of Mr. McDermott. What was becoming both costly and burdensome was reasonable and fiscally expedient. I would whole heartedly recommend Mr. McDermott.

I was going through a divorce and have 4 children who are living with me. My husband stopped helping me pay the utilities for the house. I was not working and had no money. I told Kevin that he needed to get my husband to pay me child support or at the least help me pay the bills. He ignored me and did nothing. I had to charge all the bills plus the oil for heating my home. My husband left us high and dry. The judge did nothing to help me and my children. Kevin never answered any of my calls. He would send me emails after a weeks time and yell at me as if I was doing something wrong. I was paying him to work for me and it seems like he felt bad for my husband and did not want to really help me. Once I dropped him and went with another lawyer, I received an enourmous bill from him. He charged me for all the calls I made to him even though, I never received a call back. He kept sendind me emails which I did not request and I got charged for those too. I would not recommend him to anyone because he never returns your calls and does not help you in any way possible.
