John Gemelli handled my case VERY UNPROFESSIONALLY and was UNRESPONSIVE, ARROGANT & DISRESPECTFUL He lacks total integrity or abides by the Code of Ethics. My review shall mimic almost the same experience & sentiments as indicated in the review written by DFE. In my opinion, Unfortunately I too retained Gemelli for my divorce which lasted over 2 years. He did not represent me as he indicated he would prior to me retaining him. Once retained and he got my money, after just a few meetings his whole attitude changed. Almost immediately he started not returning my calls and blatantly disregarded my questions & concerns. I believe my divorce was delayed and greatly affected by his actions & lack there of. He exhibited some of the same unprofessional behavior stated in the previous review written by DFE. I feel I was not represented effectively by him and his lack of providing the services he said he would perform, caused me additional hardship, financial burden and much undue stress. Anyone seeking a lawyer should do their due diligence. Personally, I could not have been more disgusted, extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with my choice.

My matrimonial case started in 2007 and ended as criminal in 2014. I had 2 different attorneys prior to Gemelli in 2007 and part of 2008 at the cost of $30000 for both. I retained this third (Gemelli) attorney for 3 years on my case, from 2008 to 2011, it cost me $38000 (This attorney alone) and 27 court adjournments, finally I asked him the question: " Are you working for me or for the ex?" He got so offended that he replied: " If you have doubts who I work for, it is time for you to look for another attorney". The next court appearance, a few days later, instead of defending me, he trash me in front of Judge William Harrington and requested from the Judge to be relieved from being my attorney. Judge granted his request, leaving me in the middle of the trial without attorney. Three months later I found another attorney, paid him nessrly $30,000, but eventually lost his license and left without an attorney for the 4th time. I had to retain a 5th attorney at a cost of nearly $20,000. Gemelli claims that I still owe him an additional $23,000 since 2011, but I denied him since he left me in the middle of my case. He took me to Civil Court and my trial is on October 3, 2018, and I will fight him to the bone. He is the most greedy, arrogant, liar, incompident attorney I ever met and he deserves his practice to be revoked and be reported to Bar Association for his license to be revoked. Justice must prevail.

I felt the need to write a review so that others would be aware prior to hiring John gemelli for reperesentation. I have to say he is very self centered and acts as if he is god. He is a liar, theif, and has absolute lack of respect for everyone. The only thing he is after is money plain and simple. He would take your case, but as soon as he gets your money he will not fully represent you as promised or as mutually agreed upon. Throughout my divorce case I lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Amazing There aren't enough stars above to describe him - HIRE JOHN GEMELLI My attorney passed away three weeks before my divorce trial after 4 years of waiting. My soon to be ex wanted life time maintenance and then 10 years. My friend referred me to John, All I can say is that if John was my attorney from the beginning I would have been divorced that much sooner. He is extremely knowledgeable in matrimonial litigation. He is a tough as nails negotiator and a great court litigator, whom I saw that my Judge greatly respected. He also has a real office behind him; great associates and Eva his paralegal. The office pulled out all the stops to get up to speed in a short period of time, and John got my case settled for 40% of the term for a lot less per year than defendant wanted in maintenance, with no additional financial obligations to me. A win-win. But make no mistake, if the case did not settle for what John felt was fair, he was ready to and would have tried it and I had faith in him doing so. I have known John Gemelli for more than 10 years, and have retained his services on more than one occasion regarding my divorce and subsequent custody case. He is professional, intelligent and well respected in his field. I have referred his services to many friends and co-workers and everyone that has used him and his legal team have nothing but positive things to report about their cases results. Being a member of service for the NYPD for over 20 years, I feel I have a pretty good grasp of a man's character, and can honestly say that John Gemelli is loyal, respectful, hard working and honest. He knows his field and will fight for you like no other lawyer will. I would recommend John Gemelli to anyone going through a divorce who wants a favorable outcome.

HE TOOK TOTAL ADVANTAGE OF ME AND FAILED TO PROVIDE THE SERVICES HE STATED HE WOULD AT MY INITIAL CONSULTATION. I WAS NEVER ABLE TO REACH HIM NOR WERE MY CALL ANSWERED. I COULD NEVER SPEAK WITH HIM WHEN I NEEDED TO DISCUS MY CASE AND CONCERNS. HE ONLY E-MAILED A RESPONSE WHEN HE FELT LIKE IT. I BELIEVE HE HURT MY CASE, HE TOTALLY NEGLECTED ME WHICH COST ME MORE MONEY. ALL HE CARED ABOUT WAS GETTING PAID FOR DOING NOTHING. MY CASE WAS NEGLECTED. PLEASE READ THE NY BAR ASSOCIATIONS LAWYER'S CODE OF ETHICS SO YOU CAN BE FULLY INFORMED OF YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS WHEN RETAINING LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND WHAT TO EXPECT. I FULLY REGRET MY DECISION IN RETAINING HIM.
