I never imagined that I would be someone who would go through a divorce. When the process started, I was really devastated. Initially I hired a divorce attorney who I thought would be good, but turned out to be terrible, adding to the drama and stress that was already weighing so heavily from the process itself. I needed an advocate that I could trust, not another person who made me feel like I was a burden to them, and creating additional anxiety. It was even more devastating when I was practically forced to fire my first attorney, so I was really in a panic when I needed to find a new, highly competent attorney I could trust. When I first spoke with Sari Friedman during our initial consultation, I could tell that she was intelligent and very experienced. The time wasn't right when I first consulted with her to bring her into my case, as there were still matters pending in another state which she couldn't help me with due to jurisdiction, but as soon as it was possible for proceedings to begin in the state of New York, I called Sari and retained her firm. She and Laraib Butt, a partner at the firm, did an excellent job in bringing closure to my fairly complex custody case that was most favorable to me, ensuring that I will have primary custody of my two young children.
