My son had found himself in some serious legal trouble and in just under eight weeks Hon. David Ayres had my sons charges dismissed. So as I sit here thinking about what I could say to express how thankful we are that we crossed paths with Bruce Barket and Hon. David Ayres. I think what comes to mind is how this out come could have been so different. How my sons life could have been changed forever should this out come had been different. How all his hard work his entire young life could have changed if we hired the “wrong” team. So if I want you to take anything from my experience with the firm Barket, Epstein, Kearon, Aldea & Lo Turco it would be that the biggest decision you could make after such a traumatic experience of a loved one is to pick the right people. The experience and diverse expertise of Barket, Epstein, Kearon, Aldea & Lo Turco is like no other firm I have experienced. Even after putting this behind us, Hon. David Ayres is still reaching out to help tie up some loose ends!!! Words can not truly express how grateful my family is.

I’m not one to usually leave reviews, however, this one is deserving. I worked with attorney, the Hon. David Ayres on a matter for a client of mine and was blown away by the top notch, professional representation my client received from him. My client had a unique case and prior to finding Barket Epstein, we struggled to find a trustable, skilled attorney to handle the matter. I spoke with many attorneys but only felt comfortable with Mr. Ayres and his firm. Our instincts were on point. There is absolutely no words to describe how grateful I am to have come across such a professional and patient lawyer like Scott. Tom Elliot is fantastic. He is patient (because I was definitely not the easiest client) and knows the law inside and out. He keeps your expectations in check even if is not what you want to hear. Tom was always communicative and fully explained the process so I knew what to expect each step of the way. Everyone in the office is helpful, friendly, and responsive. Not that anyone wants to go through the process, but if you have to, you can't go wrong with Tom.

The entire firm helped rectify a bad situation into an acceptable plea I am comfortable with. Knowing if push came to shove this Firm had the resources and expertise to handle whatever course I would have chosen. Sari heads a firm that focuses on empowering its clients without wasting time or mincing words with both her clients and opposing counsel. She is a no-nonsense, composed, astute and forward-thinking advocate -- especially for fathers whose parental rights and parenting time have been violated and compromised, and most importantly for the children whose "daddy-daughter" relationships have been compromised as well. I switched to Sari from other representation after my case had been dragged along and my parenting time severely limited for five months due to false allegations. In custody cases for many dads, this is the equivalent of being guilty until proven innocent or, at best, what I call "parental purgatory." Hardly a month after retaining Sari, however -- and at our first court appearance together -- my joint custody was reestablished and my parental rights restored. Sari worked with opposing counsel -- whom I felt had purposely tried to perpetuate discord and prolong our proceedings -- to reach an agreement out of court. Literally minutes before we appeared in front of the judge to to set a trial date, opposing counsel conceded and settled. The joint custody documents were signed moments later, and our agreement mandated counseling for our then 4-year-old daughter as well as the use of a parenting coordinator. Both of these post-court requirements were essential in helping our daughter heal and verbalize and understand her feelings while also providing objective third-party evaluation of our family dynamic to establish accountability. Sari's firm is expensive but does not nickel-and-dime you -- you'll get more than what you've paid for, and one cannot put a price tag on peace of mind. Her staff is respondent and allowed me to work hands-on with paralegals in drafting our proposed parenting agreement. Sari personally handled the large majority of my case, but when needed her competent associates quickly brought themselves up to speed. It is important to note that a joint custody agreement doesn't guarantee the non-residential parent that his/her parenting time will be honored. This became a reality for me when my daughter's mom failed to adhere to our weekend, holiday and vacation schedule. And this is why every custody agreement must be extremely detailed when it comes to specificity of parenting time. At this point, Sari had the foresight to immediately file a petition to move our case to Supreme Court rather than linger at the county level. Sari knew this would give us a better chance at a fair hearing, and our request was granted by the Supreme Court despite opposition from opposing counsel. So after more deliberation -- including an out-of-court "four-way" meeting between Sari/me and mother/opposing counsel at Sari's efficiently run and comfortable Garden City office -- we established a new, airtight parenting-time agreement signed by both parties and once again avoiding trial. Sari did not stoop to the level of some other dirty-tactic attorneys when we went head-to-head, helping establish and maintain credibility and respect amongst all parties involved. Earning and demanding this respect is essential in communication with attorneys-for-the-child/law guardians, parent coordinators and, our course, family court judges. She works with integrity and backs her reputation as an advocate for Father's Rights with well-attended pro-bono monthly meetings (which at that time were hosted by her daughter and current partner Andrea). For all those dads out there seeking representation in uphill battles against a court system often unfavorable to fathers -- specifically in NY state -- I would not even consider retaining another attorney until first consulting with Sari. I did, and my failure to hire Sari from the start cost me a lot of time and money -- not to mention the emotional roller-coaster I endured. Now eight years later, my coparenting relationship is better than I ever could have imagined. For the opposition, there is no escaping accountability, fairness and reasonability when Sari is on your side.
