Court is so stressful especially when custody of your child is at stake, and a hostile ex makes inflammatory false allegations against you. My first lawyer was completely ineffective, never returned my calls or gave me any sense of what to expect at each stage of the legal process. They used up my retainer having done nothing but stand next to me in court like a life size doll. When I went to Eric, he spent about 2 hours on the phone with me, giving specific, relevant advice and information about what to expect throughout the court process and my prospects for sole custody of my son. He didn’t charge me for any of that. He showed up to court with me a few days later before I had even paid the full retainer. Super flexible and willing to work with me to pay him in a manageable way while not letting me be alone in court. He was always available to answer any question I had and right away took me off the defensive and took leadership of the whole case. He’s a straight shooter who could see what I was dealing with and gave me insight beyond the case in how to manage interactions with my ex. He drew up a comprehensive settlement that my ex agreed to and I was able to get sole custody of my son. In such a stressful situation, he gave me peace of mind and was very effective. Even now I can call him and he will give me feedback as I try to co parent with my still hostile ex. I completely recommend him.

EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mr. Shiller represented me on a major felony matter that I was charged with and a related neglect case in family court. From the start Mr. Shiller battled the prosecutors and he ensured me that he would take care of these charges for me. Shiller did more than that, my criminal charges were completely dismissed!! After he was able to achieve this, Shiller got Social Services to withdraw the neglect and this case was dismissed as well. I will tell you I was so scared throughout this process having never been charged before however Mr. Shiller explained the whole legal process to me and went above and beyond to explain everything so that I could understand. I thought that I was going to lose my kids and get a criminal record however Shiller made sure this did not happen. I owe him so much. My children are home with me and I don't have a criminal record. He is GREAT! If you need a lawyer who will fight for you throughout and ease your stress throughout the court process, Shiller is the one!

Let me tell you, Mr. Shiller is honest and does a great job. I have no idea what these other folks are saying (notice they post ANONYMOUSLY because they are liars and do not want to be sued for lying and probably owe him money) because I have been going to Mr. Shiller for years for family court, for traffic court - my family and friends go-- whenever we have an issue and he is courteous, knowledgeable, and does a great job. He is not a BSer, some timid meek guy who lets the other lawyers talk over him--and let me tell you, he makes his point and gets his way-- to your benefit. And he's worth the money.

I received a consultation from Mr. Shiller. It was the ABSOLUTE worst consultation that I have ever experienced from an attorney. Mr. Shiller did not listen to me at all during my consultation. He immediately jumped to conclusions and yelled throughout the consultation without hearing the explanation first. I would not recommend this attorney whatsoever to anyone.

I was super impressed with him more than any other lawyer I have dealt with. I got in trouble-- criminally. I got Mr. Shiller's name from the bar and called him along with 2 other morons. Here is my review. CONSULTATION: Mr. Shiller talked to me over a half hour and the other the other attorney's I called just gave me a price. They didn't want to sit and listen to me. Mr.Shiller told me the process and what I could expect courtwise, etc. He knew the judge I was going in front of and even knew the DAs. He made an appointment for me to come into the office and we talked even further. He was incredibly honest and straightforward. He walked me through the retainer and the charges expected. Note: I have gone to other attorneys and they just expect you to sign and do not want you to understand what you are signing, but he made sure I did. PRICE: Was he the cheapest of those I called? No, but then again he wasn't the most expensive. He was fair for what I was charged with, and I wasn't going to bargain hunt when its MY life at stake. Believe me, you do NOT want the cheapest lawyer on the block because they will lie and tell you they have experience but they don't. (Hence why they are so cheap!) COURT: Each time we went to court he made sure I knew what to expect. This is not like TV. Everything takes time...LOTS of time, and we had to go to court several times. In court, he was amazing, I swear it was like watching Law & Order. He is this big tall guy with a booming voice --Everyone listens when he talks. And he knows how to make sure that the DAs are not trying to play a game. RESULT: Mr. Shiller does not beat around the bust and told me things I did not want to hear, but you know what, he was RIGHT. He didn't just talk big to me on the phone, he delivered and the judge listened to him. Suffice to say I was super impressed with him and would recommend him to everyone if they want the RIGHT lawyer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I left a review on Eric's Poughkeepsie page not long ago, however... here is my update. Just days before going to trial, I was told by multiple other lawyers that I was basically screwed because Eric had done such little work to prepare. After firing Eric and hiring a replacement lawyer, the replacement had to completely pull the whole case because NOTHING had been done. When I say Nothing, I'm telling you that not a single subpoena had been filed, no discovery requested, NOTHING. Mind you, this is less than a week from the trial day where I was set to fight for my son. Fast forward.... I get my billing history from Eric. The man has charged out the ass for EVERYTHING, just so that he could keep the majority of my retainer. This man claims he charges $300 an hour but has the nerve to charge $100 to review an email or take a five minute phone call. Even my new lawyer that charges $375 an hour only charges $37 for reviewing an email. This guys a crook. He charged me almost $600 to appear in court for less than hour, a court date that he was over a half hour late for. Fast forward some more. Eric claims there was a little more than $300 of the retainer that was not used, that he HAS to return to me BY LAW. Now a month later... I'm still waiting for a check to come in the mail, Eric refuses to answer or return any of my calls or texts, and I'm now preparing to take legal action. It's not about the money, it's about principle. You pay a man up front for a service and you expect that service to be provided to you. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MAN TO ANYONE! IF YOU WANT A FAMILY COURT LAWYER WHO IS DRIVEN BY THE POWER OF FAMILY AND NOT THE POWER OF THE DOLLAR, THAN DO NOT HIRE THIS LAWYER!
