Based on my experience with Anthony I would not recommend him to handle any legal matter.
Reading reviews for Anthony B. Iacovangelo I see the same sentiment from other clients. And, when you read the same commentary about Anthony, there isn’t anything more to say.
First and foremost, if anyone tells you you need an attorney to purchase a home in New York State, walk away. Some real estate agents and some real estate attorneys speak of the requirement of buyers & sellers to retain counsel. This is FALSE. New York State does not legally mandate anyone hire an attorney.
Now, my experience with Anthony was off to a bad start when he didn’t deny or clarify the fact that I did not need an attorney to purchase a home, despite my agent stating I was required to use an attorney.
Anthony made sophomoric errors in a basic Settlement Sheet over & over & over & over & over, failed to review the contract with me, tried to sell me a process I didn’t need, evaded most of my questions, supplied creative answers in order to try to get me to pay for things I didn’t need, and then took no responsibility when errors were pointed out.
Yes, my experience also included his arrogant attitude, lack of attention to detail, and lack of fiduciary responsibility to me.
In addition, Anthony pawned me off to a colleague for the closing. However when I showed for the closing another person was in the replacement attorneys position! Seriously, neither attorney let me know that my closing would be conducted by a 3rd person. That person was equally unethical as he made false statements when questioned about certain aspects of the closing.
When I confronted Anthony with the statements the other attorney made during the closing, his reply was that he wasn’t at the closing and could not comment. He never offered to speak with that attorney and get back to me, or clarify the questions I had. Until I forced the issue! And still, they used legalese in an attempt to steamroll me.
Even the receptionist was arrogant, cold and unwelcoming. Upon arriving for the closing, she told me the attorney I was there to see wasn’t in the office today. No kidding. Internally this office lacks client-focus to the point that they didn’t notify the receptionist who my closing attorney would be!
Unfortunately because a real estate attorney is not required to send an engagement letter to a client when the fee is below $3000, there is little recourse.
I will never hire Anthony again, nor anyone in the Gallo & Iacovangelo firm due to all of these interactions. Because my experience was so poor, I can’t recommend Anthony.

I have used Anthony on several closing and he has always been upfront and honest. I have never had any problems with my closings, they were handled professionally and in a timely manner. I look forward working with Anthony in the future.

Was recommended by my real estate agent. He is the worst! Have a HUD 1 dated prior to my closing quoting me $750 legal fee. Anthony knew I was moving to the west coast on day of closing and I had no room for error. This guy surprised me at the closing with a $1599.50 legal fee and told me take it or leave it. He screwed me hard. This guy is a dishonest lawyer and no one should ever use him.

Used him when purchasing my house.
He forgot to mention that taxes were not paid, something got screwed in town hall (I suspect not without his help) I ended up paying penalties.
Ripped a page from house abstract (what was that for?) to show it to me.
(too lazy to move the whole book?)
