Before you hire a lawyer to represent you in a case there are 4 things I look for while interviewing the lawyer, YES I said interview the lawyer. If you don't do this before you retain the lawyer you could get the surprise of your life. Don't leave your case up to a crap shoot! I implore you to dedicated to doing discovery on your lawyer, don't take anyone's word, do it yourself. Interview the BEST 3 Lawyers you can find then pick the one which you feel gutterally and professionally has the horse power to carry your case through to the end without losing your shirt or your mind. 1. Technical know how of your specific type of case. Experience pays here big time and it will pay you dividends all the way until the end of your life if your case is big enough. Treat the decision to hire the best seriously. 2. Make sure you can communicate well and that the lawyer receives you well, if not you may feel like a dead fish swimming upstream. 3. Make sure the lawyer will be personally involved the majority of the time and not pass your case to someone else to do the work. Yes, ask him or her exploratory, inquisitive questions and get the answers you will be glad you did. 4. Lastly, understand by questioning the potential lawyer what they feel the case will look like, the type of challenges you may face, the estimated cost ( possibly by month) and what information you will need to provide to them. Then go home and do your on-lilne homework, read reviews on the lawyer, ask others in the industry, but do the research.
