The services provided are well worth the cost. Particularly in light of the potential for legal consequences of a self defense situation given the current social/political climate in NY State.

I engaged Tilem & Associates for a Landlord issue. I was sent a letter in October of 2022 advising me that I was considered a "nuisance tenant", and had 15 days to vacate the apartment, though I was hardly there very often, due to work travel. I had a current lease through the end of Feb. 2023. I always paid my rent on time. The problem involved a roach infestation that began in Sept. of 2021, when somebody moved in with them. This infested the whole end of my building (Floors 1-6). Since I was rarely there, the Super couldn't/wouldn't let the exterminator in to spray my apartment. When they did come in during my absence, they noticed that the apartment looked like I had just moved in (boxes and newspapers throughout), and claimed it to be a 'fire hazard'. I checked around and saw all the good reviews of this firm and contacted them to help me with this landlord problem. A court date had been set with the local jurisdiction for a unilateral eviction process, which was illegal, since I had a current lease. I met with Cindy Brown at their office, and explained the problem to her, and she agreed to take the case. She got the court date canceled, and we agreed with the tenant's attorney, that I would move out at the end of Feb. 2023, (my lease end) which I did, since this was an untenable relationship with this landlord. Subsequently, I received a check for my security deposit, less $1000 that their attorney was charging for 'Legal Fees". Cindy contacted their attorney, and they agreed to rescind the $1000 fee to their client, and I am now awaiting a check for the $1000. Cindy was extremely helpful during this stressful period, and got the job done. As a side note, when I went to visit their office, there was a sign outside their door, notifying all entrants that Tilem's Law office was not a "sensitive area" for firearms carry. Since I am a strong proponent of the 2nd Amendment, this brought a smile to my face, and was a middle finger to NY State's attempt to side-step the Bruen decision. I would highly recommend this firm.
