I have utilized Al Messer’s firm twice over the last 5 years for speeding violations. In both cases I was very happy with the results he achieved in getting my charges dismissed. They are very clear up front as to what they think they can do for you and the cost. Very happy would highly recommend!!!!

I cannot say enough great things about Al Messer, as well as his assistant Sara Johnson. They helped me out when I felt like my world was falling apart. I had no idea what to expect going into this ordeal, but he handled my case like a pro, he was very straight forward with me, and answered every question I had. I knew what to expect the whole way through and had complete confidence in him. I would ABSOLUETLY recommend.

2019 experience: My case was an unique case & I sought out other legal help after my previous lawyer wasn't the right fit for this case. Besen got more accomplished for me in 3 months than my previous lawyer did in over a year. Besen knows the laws & saw my side as a client. He handled the case & was fair in price. He always showed up to court and kept me up to date. He was prompt, professional & handled my case expeditiously. Well done. June-July 2024 experience: I have no idea what changed in this firm and in Mr. Besen himself but he has become very aggressive, rude, pompous, short tempered, disrespectful, uncompassionate, incommunicative, negligent, greedy and overall, unprofessional. I had to reach out to the office and then to him personally to confirm he'd be there for me for the add on calender hearing. He accused me of having an "attitude" and being "impatient". He then insisted he went "above and beyond and to give credit when due" for only showing up one single time only to peek into the courtroom to find out he didn't like the judge and put off the matter for another undisclosed date. This event wasted my time and the cooperating defendant's time as well. Be aware, if he doesn't like the judge himself, everyone is out of luck that day. I continued to wait during this time sensitive and extremely stressful case. When I reached out to him the morning of the day I was told to show up for court the second time, he insisted that his assistant Kendra told me he would not be available due to his schedule and that they were "waiting on me to pay up". I was able and willing to finally make a down-payment since I had been unemployed since the first week of March, which he knew because I informed him the first consultation call. He was aware and should have declined to help at that point instead of dragging it on. He insisted his assitant Kendra told me about "paying up" but I have no messages, calls or corresponce of any kind informing me of what he claimed. He literally told me to go find another attorney while on my way the morning I was told to appear for court. While I was on my way to the courthouse, he completely went off on me then hung up in my face. I politely called back suggesting "the call got dropped" instead of blatantly pointing out he told me off & hung up on me. No client should have been hung up on abruptly & talked to the way he spoke to me. In summary, his accusations of me being "rude & impatient" are deflections of his own poor character flaws as an attorney & individual. He is only after big money cases. He should have stayed a law enforcement officer in Wilmington, NC. He has a "bad cop" attitude & indifference that attorney's should not have. I have also previously referred my own family & friends to him in which he has prolonges cases to take longer so he gets paid more. He has also been paid for services he did not show up to represent the individual that paid for him to be there. Ted simply does not care. He completely neglected my situation and failed me. Please don't waste your time with this firm & the dysfunctional ring they run. It's a shame & I will be filing a grievance with the NC State Bar. Stay keen & stay away. I will never refer anyone to him again & if you don't want to be treated like dog poop on a shoe, please learn from my most recent experience. This firm is the farthest thing from the help you need in your legal dilemmas. Pick someone who is eager to fight for you, not just to get paid. 5 years ago, I would have picked Ted again and again. I cannot stand behind that sentiment today.
