Came here expecting to find nothing but bad reviews...am surprised that is not the case, but not pleasantly so. It seems he is one of the best your money can buy in this area, but God help you if you ever find yourself in need of a court appointed attorney in Madison County, NC and you draw this guy out of the hat. I have been and know people represented by him that have languished in the jail in Marshall anywhere from 5 months to well over a year without seeing a courtroom on matters that are typically resolved within 1-3 months with public defenders. Never a visit, his office number has blocked collect calls and he doesn't respond to letters. If the inmate is lucky enough to have someone try to contact him in their stead, he will cheerfully tell them convincing lies about how he has things ready to be handled on the upcoming court date and not to worry. Invariably, Mr. Dow files a motion for continuance.. rarely is the motion filed by the state. I'm sure a man as esteemed as Dustin Dow is sought after and very busy helping people and earning his piece of the American Dream. It would be a great thing if he would take the time to do his civic duty and use his legal prowess to help the citizens who can't afford the representation they are entitled to by law. It's not like it's pro bono...court appointed attorneys get compensated for the fees they incur either at the expense of the state if the charges are dropped or a bill added to the defendants court costs in the case of a guilty plea or verdict. Even the guards in Madison County Detention Center will laugh and tell the poor inmate who has just been appointed Dustin Dow, "Well, you're stuck now. Might as well settle in." This is unfortunately not an exaggeration. I'm sure he really is a five star lawyer...I'm just putting this out here so people who are reading these reviews for their incarcerated loved ones and hopefully to remind Mr. Dow to please remember the little guys too. If anything they need your help more urgently than those that can post bond and pay your retainer.

Dustin is a wonderful lawyer and really nice person too. He has a lot of experience and is always very informative and helpful. I have used him for several small things and also referred a few friends to him one of which he really has done an excellent job in helping with a case. I recommend him to everyone i know. He is ethical, professional, and kind hearted, and also an assertive and get things done kind of person. I like him as a lawyer a lot and he seems to be someone with a healthy lifestyle and good family too, so that is always reassuring that the person standing up for you is healthy in themselves and coming from a good place with integrity. I was wrongly accused of a felony trafficking drug offense and through Mr. Dow's tireless efforts I was found not guilty. Amazing Attorney!!

I was charged with 3 felonies that I was innocent of, and was guilty by association. Even though it took over 1.5 years, Dustin never gave up on my plight, and even after it had looked like it was going to trial, Attorney Dow secured a complete dismissal of my case. The people who were actually involved, who used public defenders, is serving 2 years intensive probation, and the other violated her probation and spent about 7 months in prison and is now still on parole for several years to come. Mr. Dow made sure that the DA knew I was only a person giving a ride to so-called friends. This was not an easy feat considering I had a previous conviction. I had even told Mr. Dow that after a year of dealing with this I was ready to plea, and he did not bring that option to the DA....thank God! If you are looking for any type of lawyer, whether it be criminal, civil, or traffic then do yourself a favor and hire this attorney. He was also a former ADA in Henderson County, so he knows how both sides work. No criticism here and everyone at Bull and Reinhardt are helpful and polite. Also, Dustin does not overcharge and is fair...the other attorneys I looked at charged at least 5 to 7 thousand more for retainer and would require more if the case went to trial. I actually retained him in the hallway of the courthouse, and he stopped to listen and reassured me...even though he had plenty of places he needed to be that morning at my arraignment. Mr. Dow is a great lawyer. He is knowledgeable about what he does, has compassion for the client and a sense of humor that is very personable. I hired Mr. Dow for custody and family court. He immediately got things filed in the court and communicated well by giving step by step counsel on what to expect and what needed to be done. I trust Dustin not because of attorney/client privilege, but because he strives to truly have the client trust him. I would recommend Mr. Dow to anyone in the Asheville area who needs someone on their side and will fight for you, especially when the client feels they can't fight anymore. He is a great motivator and was a huge encouragement on days it was much needed.

My experience with Mr. Dow has been outstanding. Dustin explains legal terminology and situations to me in a systematic and logical manner.
