I was very pleased with Ashley’s work ethic and her attention to my case. She helped me brought a very difficult time by helping me to understand the situation I was in from a very pragmatic point of view. She listened to my concerns and fears and always left me feeling like things were going to be alright.

Ashley Stucker was absolutely amazing. She handled a child custody matter for me. When deciding who to hire to handle my matter, as a father I wanted someone who would fight, and Ashley did just that. She explained every step of the process in perfect detail. When we had our hearing it was clear she was the most prepared Attorney in the courtroom. During our hearing her questions and closing were absolutely perfect. I could easily tell how hard she worked to ensure she was well prepared and she put that on displaying during the hearing. She was very professional and easy to talk to. She was the perfect attorney for my case. I knew my case was going to be a battle and Ashley fought every step of the way. Ultimately I ended up with custody of my almost 2 year old son. One of the best decisions in my life was hiring Ashley to handle my case. I will never forget the work she did and I will always be grateful for her. I would highly recommend Ashley for anyone with a child custody matter.

I had hired Ashley to help me when I decided to separate from my husband of 24 years. I honestly didn't know where to start, and Ashley was amazing. Besides for being extremely professional, she was so down to earth, and easy to talk to. She has always made sure that all of my questions were answered, and that I understood everything 100%. The first day we had our consult, I left there feeling so relieved. She really knows her ins and outs of family law, and has helped me immensely. My best interest was her #1 priority. I will always recommend her to anyone in need of a Family Law Attorney. I am grateful that I found her!

I went to Mrs. Stucker with only a hope and a prayer looking for help with separation and custody. The deck was stacked against me, my recent history had done me no favors, and my back was against the wall. I gave her the good bad and ugly of my story and she went to war. I didn't have the best case, there were mistakes in my past and lots of dark clouds but I was always honest with her and put in a lot of hard work to improve my myself, my situation and to be seen in a brighter light, after all your attorney is only as good as the case you give them. She worked tirelessly on my case, always keeping me informed and ready. Hearing after hearing always prepared and ready for battle. She had done her homework and always had a reassuring confidence that was undeniable. I was the underdog but she never made me feel that way. Long story short I went in looking for a simple separation and custody agreement so I could end a toxic relationship and have steady consistent regular visits with my children. Ashley exceeded all my expectations, when she was done I had a finalized divorce and FULL custody of both of my daughters (11 and 7) one of whom is not even biologically mine (but has been mine since she was an infant)! I can't say enough to do her justice but what a blessing she has been to me and my family. She gives 110%, genuinely cares about her clients, and goes to war for them giving them the best outcome possible (even ones that may seem impossible). We will be forever grateful for all the hard work she has done on our behalf.

I refer friends, colleagues and realtors to Rebecca frequently for closings. My husband contacted her for assistance with some real estate property paperwork. She was quick to respond, and her attention to detail was reassuring. It was nice to learn that she also can assist with wills and power of attorney.

I worked with Kara to close my first home purchase, and then 10 months later to refinance my mortgage. She is professional, personable, she explains everything to you without making you feel bad about it. She works very well with everyone behind the scenes, and you as the client don't even know how much she gets done for you. I absolutely love working with her! She is professional, available, and makes the process so smooth! I highly recommend her to everyone!

Ms.Hand did a closing for us a couple of years ago and everything went smoothly. We recently had a question about the HUD because we are building a new home in another state and she got right back to us. Would highly recommend.

Recently, Marzella Law Group helped us with a business closing for a business we were purchasing. Carmen and Tayler are a wonderful and professional team. They went above and beyond. But the most important thing to us was their knowledge of the business closing process and their responsiveness. They made a complex and stressful process smooth and understandable. I highly recommend their law firm for your business needs.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cary, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
