Laura Noble was recommended to me by another lawyer that I know well. She agreed to take a look at my case to see if she felt that she would be able to assist me obtain a favorable outcome. A demand was sent to my former employer which unfortunately fell on deaf ears. Despite this, Laura kept continuing to advocate on my behalf until it became apparent that a decision had to be made on how the case could move forward. Due to her heavy workload and the actual case facts, she wasn't able to take my case through litigation but we mutually agreed that litigation wasn't the best avenue based on the circumstances. She also provided me with an additional resource should I decide to litigate my case. Laura was receptive, helpful, responsive, knowledgeable and fought hard for me. What I really liked about Laura most was that she was direct and to the point and told me up front what her expectations were and how she would fight for me. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a hard-working and well respected professional lawyer in the employment law field.

My experience was positive and I am grateful that I chose the Noble Law firm to represent my case. I was referred to Noble Law Firm by other lawyers whom I called directly for advice prior to actually speaking to Laura, which gave me an immediate sense of confidence that my case will be handled by experts. Indeed, the Noble Team Firm demonstrated excellence in their expertise in addition to their already known extensive legal work experience and stellar academic background. From initial interview by Laura who spoke to me immediately on the same day I called the firm, followed by Deirdre who immediately took care of the paperwork and scheduled a meeting with Nick (as my lawyer) for office consultation proved efficiency and commitment to my case. From my first conversation with Nick, you become aware of his integrity and knowledge, and more over the passion he exudes for his work. Any concern or question I had was immediately addressed; any information I requested was promptly forwarded; and phone calls were answered in a timely manner. My opinion and thoughts regarding my case when discussed with my lawyer were treated with respect and attention and I think that’s important in a lawyer-client relationship. I felt validated that my input was heard and I received an honest response, which showed my lawyer took the time to listen and deciphered information pertinent to the case. From experience, I strongly believe the Noble Law Firm can help resolve cases (simple or complex) on employment- related matters. It took 3 months for Noble Law Firm to resolve the case but throughout, both Laura and Nick continued to show honesty, genuine warmth and kindness. They cared and were strategic in seeking resolution for their client’s best interest. I highly recommend the Noble Law Firm without reservation to anyone seeking legal representation on employment matters. Thank you so much!

I had a pretty complicated case and I knew I would be paying my fees until we settled. Ms. Noble and her legal team helped me with the case and even the stress, and they offered me options for parts of the process to keep costs down. They are tough and not jerks like some attorneys! And we got a great mediated settlement. I recommend them completely.

When we came to The Noble Law Firm, we were discouraged, hurt, and confused. The case was not a simple one, but Ms. Noble examined the data and listened to us carefully. She decided to represent us even though the case was challenging. Ms. Noble and Mr. Sanservino came to our aid. They worked for our cause, interacting with our opposition professionally and fairly toward a conclusion that satisfied us. Even though the opposition had unlimited time and resources, The Noble Law Firm was able to spur them to action in our favor so that we could continue our lives. It became obvious to us over the course of our case that these attorneys had served people like us before, with cases as difficult or worse. They anticipated how the opposition would respond, so we followed their advice and instructions to achieve the outcome favorable to us. They were not intimidated by the opposition's arrogance nor by the challenges we gave them. We could not have asked for better treatment and protection as they pursued our case relentlessly. If you want a firm that has intelligent, strong attorneys, who are tenacious in the pursuit of your case, look no farther than Laura Noble and Nick Sanservino of The Noble Law Firm in Chapel Hill.

Josh is a native Charlotte man who knows the area and people well. He understood my case well and helped me even though I was not the most rich or fancy client. Josh knows people and it makes him a good lawyer. He is honest, and I do not get a feel like he is trying to make money, but help me. His office is a little outdated and he is old fashioned (uses a fax machine) but he is more experienced and knows the law better than many recent graduates at big firm. I recommend him to anyone in need of a down to earth criminal attorney.

Mr. Kirkley handled my personal injury case. He was very professional and got me results that were beyond my expectations. The entire staff is polite and courteous. They were quick to return my calls and answer all my questions. I would highly recommend Kirkley & Stanley Law Offices to anyone who has an accident. I have referred friends and family to their firm for accidents and traffic related matters.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Charlotte, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
