I have used George many times over the years and referred him to several friends and relatives that used him. He is very thorough in his work and looks for any type of loophole he can. I was looking at jail time for a second dui, and he kept me out of jail and with no ankle monitor. I also used him in a domestic violence case where my abuser tried to sue me for money he gave me. Not only did I not have to pay my abuser, but he went to jail for assault on a female and was ordered to pay restitution. I also got the restraining order I asked for. My son used him as well, and George got his case thrown out on a technicality! I recommend George for anyone's needs. Again, he is the best. He also got my husband's speeding ticket thrown out!

He's really bad at interviewing witnesses on the stand, and is visually uncomfortable speaking to judges.
When we got into the courtroom it was clear he was completely unprepared: he didn't know anything about the case (x happened, then y, then z, etc), was unfamiliar with basic witness information, he never asked the prosecutor's expert any questions, and the one cop that bothered to show was completely let off the hook when the body-cam video footage and his written report had almost nothing in common.
He stammered his entire way through opening and closing arguments, which spent swinging at emotions (poorly) when he should have been hammering facts and pointing out inconsistencies.

My legal problems started when the state I have always lived in, Illinois, passed the National Driver Registry Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS). It required all issues with a person’s driver’s license in other states to be cleared up before renewing your license. I received a letter from the State of Illinois that I had an incident from North Carolina on my driving record from 1990. In the early 1990’s I was a victim of identity theft in the states of North and South Carolina. I believed everything was cleared up, since I acted with the police and credit agencies back then to clear everything up. I was never aware of the driving offense. The offense turned out to be drunk driving, to which the person plead guilty in my name and then never paid the fine or took the classes.
George V. Laughrun II was recommended to me by a local person in the legal community. I made contact with George and the situation was difficult to say the least with courts in North Caroline closed because of Covid. I have never met George in person, but he handled a very difficult case for me and did so long distance, via emails and phone calls. The case was 30 years old and the person plead guilty, so it wasn’t just a quick dismissal.
George was great. He not only saw that charge, but that I had two other charges in my name. He had to meet with the District Attorney and get her to agree to go to court and then demonstrate that I was a victim of identity theft. I supplied George with the proof I had from the 1990’s. I wish I had kept copies of everything, but overtime I threw things away, since I thought it was all behind me. The judge agreed with the DA and the charges in my name were dismissed. I was able to get my driver’s license renewed. I would highly recommend George, he is friendly and great advocate. His rates are very reasonable and he keeps you informed on what is going on with your case. I don’t believe my case would have been handled so smoothly without George.

I retained Atty Laughrun II services to get my DL back a couple years ago. After he researched it, he stated I wasnt eligible for reinstatement until a couple years have gone by.
The blessing was that he returned my retainer fee in its entirety along with his letter explaining my situation fully.
I will be retaining his services now that my revocation/ eligibility period has come up.
( Thats more than I can say about another popular attorney in the CharMeck area.)

This man understands the legal system extremely well for Mecklenburg County. I can not imagine another attorney doing a better job for legal defense. After using his services I can say first hand that he is one of the very best in the region.

I hired George back in 2005. I had a list of charges that kept compounding more and more. I decided to hire him after a lecture from a state trooper who could have arrested me but said I was lucky it was the near the end of his shift and did not want to do the paper work, assuming a lot. I had failure to appears so I also has warrants when he let me go. I hired George and put 100 dollar down payment retainer. I was planning on paying him in full after the judgment. I ended up getting warrants in the mail for failure to appear. I assumed it was in error because I put a down payment for his service. I went to court on the court date after not hearing anything. They never called my name I saw him there. I saw people going to jail in front of me for being late missing their actual court time. I walked out afraid for arrest and called him. He said I didn't pay him. I asked his receptionist if they do payments, she told me to ask him. He agreed and say yes. I paid him 400 that day. He told me to meet him back in the same court room. I still saw people being arrested. Judge was having a bad day! I walked out again thinking I wasn't getting off the hook. George had to play lawyer in 2 court rooms so he was back and forth. I ended up seeing him in the hallway and told him I don't want to go to jail. He said. Your not, lets go take care of this now. We walk in. He goes right to the front. He had them call me up next. He talked to the judge. The judge looks at me, PAY THE FINE. That was it. We were done. Cleared up years of running from the law and warrants. It was the start of a clean slate.
So if you hire him do your homework. Make arrangements, get it in writing. Mostly, keep in contact with him.
I since have chosen a new lawyer. One that is more, I feel is compassionate to his clients without judgement. Trust me, I have had a few,

We now need to hire a different lawyer to do the job he has been paid for. He will not do the work to help you out after he's been paid showing what he truly cares about.

My granddaughter needed help with suspended license and opening a past texting ticket to remove a PJC. Mr.Laughrun was a professional and caring attorney, who guided us and made tremendous progress.
Will be be forever grateful for his expediting some processes and getting the license reinstated and removing PJC to be placed in a more needed place.
Thank you so much from myself and grandaughter.
