I had a high conflict family law case for four years. Attorney Advocates were involved as well as DSS and five other attorneys before I hired Danielle Walle. She was sent from Heaven to get my case settled and keep my child safe. She is, without a doubt, the BEST, most efficient and caring attorney. She went above and beyond, giving me the advice, support, confidence and comfort I needed to ensure I would get the most favorable outcome and time with my son. She is an absolute beast in the courtroom as well! She will tirelessly fight for her clients and she performed brilliantly! I couldn't have asked for a better attorney. PLEASE hire her! Thank you so much Danielle!!

I hired Danielle just over five years ago. When I met with Danielle, I just knew she was the absolute best fit for me. There is a very simple reason why Danielle is so well-liked: she is a talented and outstanding attorney who works for her clients as if they were her personal friend or family member. I had the good fortune to find her in my search for new representation after a serious child custody crisis. I had to resolve financial things, but those were a piece of cake in comparison to the issues with my daughter. I still remember the first time I met Danielle because her knowledge, professionalism, honesty and genuine demeanor was strikingly different from the attorney I had worked with and the experiences I had had. She skillfully brought calm to a very emotional and chaotic situation. My ex was toxic and terrible for my daughter who had very specific and special needs. Danielle had the right energy and compassion to understand what I needed, what my daughter needed, and the grit to help us get there. Danielle worked steadfastly for me. It was not always easy, but Danielle kept me informed of the pros and cons every step of the way. She let me make the choices, but she held my hand as I did and ensured I knew exactly what I was doing before I had to make any decisions. She didn't back down from a challenge and was able to adapt to all the crazy things my ex and his attorney threw at us. She was caring, empathetic, and sensitive at every step. She knew that my daughter was my first priority and every step she took was with that in mind. It's been a long time, but I am thankful for her every day. Every day that my daughter was safe with me, I know it's because God led me to Danielle. Danielle told me that her job was to represent the "whole client," and that's what she did. She wasn't cheap by any means, but she kept me informed of the costs, gave me options to save money when possible, and she surrounded herself with excellence. Danielle's excellent paralegal, Janessa, was absolutely phenomenal. Danielle told me that she'd have Janessa and her team do as much as possible to keep my costs down. It made me nervous, but I realized that Danielle was always aware and present, but her team was my team and everyone worked as a unit. I am so appreciative that I was able to have such diligent attention without needing to pay a 2-3 attorney team. She's changed firms since I hired her, but it's my understanding that she's working with her same team. It's clear that Danielle is loyal and steadfast in all that she does. I honestly cannot express enough thanks, gratitude or appreciation for her hard work and support in what she helped accomplish for me and my daughter. Thank you Danielle! I'm sorry it took me so long to leave a review, but I told you I'd do it as soon as C turned 18!

Danielle was phenomenal during the time she worked on my custody case. In a case that was very high conflict I felt that she really had my back and did everything she possibly could to resolve the matter. I always felt that she understood the complexity of my case and always steered things in the right direction. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is seeking a very competent and knowledgeable attorney, as well as somebody who truly cares about your and your case.

I hired Danielle after 2 years of working with my former attorney. She took what was a disaster of miscommunication, expense, and stress and somehow resolved it in a way that my ex and I could both agree. Danielle thinks outside of the box, really listened to what I needed, helped me focus on my primary goal. and was always in my corner. I never felt she was trying to line her pockets or create issues. I would, and have, recommended her to anyone who needs a smart, creative, and compassionate representative to fight for their family.

This review has been a long time coming but much deserved. I went through a 3-year process of divorce, custody, and child support while simultaneously trying to piece my life back together. All through the pandemic. To say this time in my life was stressful both emotionally and financially is an understatement. Danielle was the calm in the storm, the voice of objectivity, a supporter of my needs, and a fighter for my rights. She is patient, informative, timely, and laughed at my jokes to make me feel better. I always appreciated that. This process was not an easy one and we faced obstacle after obstacle. But I never felt alone or insecure about my chances. In the end, I got my divorce finalized, a fair support agreement, but most importantly, I have a great custody schedule where I can be a dad to my son without any stress. All because of Danielle's investment in my priorities in life. Highly recommended.

Josh is a native Charlotte man who knows the area and people well. He understood my case well and helped me even though I was not the most rich or fancy client. Josh knows people and it makes him a good lawyer. He is honest, and I do not get a feel like he is trying to make money, but help me. His office is a little outdated and he is old fashioned (uses a fax machine) but he is more experienced and knows the law better than many recent graduates at big firm. I recommend him to anyone in need of a down to earth criminal attorney.

Mr. Kirkley handled my personal injury case. He was very professional and got me results that were beyond my expectations. The entire staff is polite and courteous. They were quick to return my calls and answer all my questions. I would highly recommend Kirkley & Stanley Law Offices to anyone who has an accident. I have referred friends and family to their firm for accidents and traffic related matters.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Charlotte, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
