Pros
1
Effective legal representation and positive outcomes for clients
“Eric got both of my tickets taken care of, reduced down with no points on anything, AND got court costs for both combined so it was like only paying for one, I never had to show up for court he did everything for me and very respectful, decisive, and connecting/relatable with his clients.”
2
Knowledgeable and experienced attorneys
“Bartina is extremely experienced and professional. Her reputation is excellent and she is well versed in federal and state law.”
3
Personable and caring approach
“Bill Hunter took such good care of me, and was extremely helpful in navigating this new phase of my life. He has been kind, responsive, and professional.”
4
Strong communication and responsiveness
“I am very impressed with Hunter & Hein, Attorneys at Law, PLLC. On my first call I spoke with Bill and every discussion after was with Valerie. I never spoke to a receptionist or paralegal.”
5
Reasonable and transparent pricing
“Hunter & Hein, Attorneys at Laww, PLLC help me with my divorce case and I am highly satisfied with the work they have done. It was really easy to get in contact with them initially, and are very efficient with communication. I have shop for prices before initially getting in contact with them and their prices are very resonnable.”
Cons
1
Lack of communication and follow-through
“Deplorable. I had little other choice but to fire Valerie Hein as my attorney in a custody case. I am beyond disappointed and appalled in the quality of care she displayed regarding my custody case. I had asked her questions multiple times with no answers and she never followed through (unless further prompted by me about the status) on what she said she would do from setting court dates to sending me information.”
2
Unprofessional and dismissive behavior
“Even the Judge thought this guy was an idiot. While I was at the courthouse to pay the court fees they said they specifically told him to leave a doc signed by the judge at the courthouse but he didn't listen causing more issues, when I called him he rushed me off the phone making it my problem. Not customer oriented”
3
Dishonest and misleading practices
“Don't make the same mistake I did. Eric is a fast talker snd extremely rude . He hurries to get you as a client and then never wants to speak to you again just forwards you to his secretary. Eager to collect his check but super dishonest. After explaining that my wife and I have never done this before he lied about any extra things we would have to pay for once he helped with our ticket.”
4
Failure to provide expected services
“Hired Eric to take care of a speeding ticket, everything was resolved in a timely manner and I am very happy with the outcome, definitely would recommend him and his team. Hopefully I don't need a lawyer again but if I did I would not hesitate to have him represent me.”
5
“Hired Eric for traffic case August 2022, never heard from him and one year later, received a letter from NCDMV license would be suspended if I didn't pay! WTH?? This guy is a scam!”

I spoke with Eric about a ticket going 52 in a 35. The court had already agreed to drop it to 44 in a 35. I have a clean I called him because the advertisement said starting at $70. After literally being on the phone for an hour listening to him talk...he quoted me $550 if I make payments and $350 if I pay today. This did NOT include court fees, only the lawyer fees. I told him that his fee said starting at $70 and already had someone that would do it for $150. He started negotiating and quoted me $140. I said no and hung up. Called Keith Booker & Assoc was on phone for less than 5 minutes and it was $70 for attorney fee and $20 for the driving record. $90 total, plus my court fees. Needless to say Keith got my business

Eric did exactly what he said he'd do in court. I was very happy that I hired him. The firm was easy to deal with and friendly. I would recommend him to anyone that finds himself or herself in trouble with the law.

Eric is a wonderful lawyer with excellent communication about your case. He was very courteous from the moment me and my grandson contacted him. We never had to even set foot in his office or court. We were able to give him everything he needed about our traffic violation charges online and by phone communication. He got our case settled with no charges from court and no points. So he actually got our charges dropped. I couldn't believe it. Eric's fees are hard to believe with all he has done with my case. He saved me lots of time and money. I highly recommend him. My case got screwed up by Gaston County Court House and Eric Inhaber was able to help me past what I had paid him. His office was always able to answer the phone and answer questions I had. They even reimbursed part of fees I was required to pay even though the courthouse were the ones who messed up. Highly recommend this lawyer for any work you need done.

Booked a free consultation on September 30th 2022 for October 27th 2022 at 12:30. Never received a call. Received two confirmation emails and called prior to, to ensure a phone call was okay and was told yes. Called the office on 10/27 at 12:33pm and was only told that I could leave a voice-mail. Not very professional.

Josh is a native Charlotte man who knows the area and people well. He understood my case well and helped me even though I was not the most rich or fancy client. Josh knows people and it makes him a good lawyer. He is honest, and I do not get a feel like he is trying to make money, but help me. His office is a little outdated and he is old fashioned (uses a fax machine) but he is more experienced and knows the law better than many recent graduates at big firm. I recommend him to anyone in need of a down to earth criminal attorney.

Mr. Kirkley handled my personal injury case. He was very professional and got me results that were beyond my expectations. The entire staff is polite and courteous. They were quick to return my calls and answer all my questions. I would highly recommend Kirkley & Stanley Law Offices to anyone who has an accident. I have referred friends and family to their firm for accidents and traffic related matters.

Excellent lawyer! She did an AMAZIN job on my case.. First thought was public defender does not care enough, I am going to lose. not this lawyer. She was concerned, confident about case and we WON! Even if the case was a guilty verdict, she is still a great lawyer. She knows her stuff and most importantly she cares. Thank you for time and talent Ms. Grill... My family and I are most grateful!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Charlotte, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
