I Hired Matt Ginn for a Driving while license revoked, I was desperate for help and hired him in the courtroom after seeing him help another person with the same charge. We spoke briefly this day and he gave me instructions and advice, which I followed to a tee. He was able to continue my case until I was able to remedy the reasons why my license was revoked. I would recommend Matt Ginn.

My boyfriend has been sitting in jail for almost a year he has not personally hired mr. Ginn but he is his court appointed attorney, which shouldn't make a difference. But every time I call to see what's going on with his case I get his answering machine and he never returns my calls, so one day a lady in the office gave me his cell phone number and when I finally got an answer he was extremely rude, and he told me that he was trying to work a deal out with the district attorney and this was over 3 months ago and I haven't got him to answer another phone call yet. I DO NOT RECCOMEND HIM TO ANYONE!!!

I hired Matthew Ginn in the past for speeding Tickets and I was happy with the outcomes, he would get me unsafe equipment or get it dropped all together but IF YOU ARE HOPING for him to call you back and let you know ANYTHING about your case, you might as well forget it!! He doesnt have a Secretary, he uses other women in the office who work for another attorney but the women who will take your payments and transfer to his phones but thats it! and that DOESNT MEAN you will get a call back from him UNLESS you are not a client yet and he is looking to get your business AND MONEY!! The OLD SAYING ABOUT ATTORNEYS ARE TRUE WITH MATTHEW F. GINN, HE IS DISHONEST AND HE DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH YOU, he will NOT tell you what is going on with you case and with my case, A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES, He has NOT PAID the court cost even though I have paid him for it and I was threaten by the state that they were going to take my Licenses and even after calling Mr. Ginn MANY TIMES, OVER 10 to 20 times, I AM YET TO GET A RETURN CALL BACK FROM HIM. I spoke with him in the very beginning and he was VERY RUDE telling me that HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT AND THE PRICE I PAID HIM WAS ONLY ENOUGH FOR HIS FEE but he would find out how much I owed for Court cost and he would pay the late fees but again I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM HIM!! I paid him $300 dollars for NOTHING!!! I could have went to court and pleaded guilty, as he did for me cause he said I HAD NO OTHER OPTION, and I could have used the $300 dollars to pay the court cost and by showing up to court myself I WOULD HAVE KNOWN HOW MUCH THE COURT COST WAS!! So I have LESS THEN 20 days before the state takes my licenses for a fee that MATTHEW F. GINN WAS SUPPOSE TO PAY BUT HE DIDNT and he hasnt called me back and WONT RETURN MY CALL and let me know how much I own for my court cost and fee!! So If you HIRE AND USE Mr. Ginn for your Attorney all I have to say is GOOD LUCK if you know how your case is going or if you even get a call back from him after you have paid him! If you pay him up front YOU WONT HEAR BACK FROM HIM so my advice is IF YOU DO BY SOME CHANCE HIRE HIM,and I dont know WHY YOU WOULD, Dont pay him until your case is settled, this way at least you know you will hear from him!! DONT USE MR. GINN, DONT HIRE MR. GINN!! HE IS DISHONEST AND HE DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH HIS CLIENTS!!

Attorney Caldwell was thoughtful and knowledgeable in her approach to all my issues of estate planning. There were no surprise fees. All charges were discussed up front. During our session she was very kind and hospitable; she made me feel like family. She has handled everything to the point where I have nothing to worry about. I’m so thankful that I can rest easy at night and have peace of mind knowing that my family will be taken care of. The process of collecting information was extremely well organized and efficient. The estate planning portfolio she provided was comprehensive and very easy to understand. I appreciate the thoroughness, patience and professionalism of Attorney Caldwell. - E. Harper

I hired Rose to help with my divorce because I didn't know anything about the process outside of the basic state requirements. She made the entire process as painless as possible and kept in communication with me every step of the way. She even made sure to ask about how my pregnancy and baby preparations were going. I strongly recommend her to anyone who is looking for legal help, not just for her amazing professional demeanor but also for her interpersonal skills.

I used Rose Staples Deese to draft my will. She was thorough, and took the time to explain the process to me so that I could decide what language best fit my needs. She made the process easier than I ever thought it could be to have a will created. I'd recommend her to anyone needing an attorney.

Mr. Wiseman did a wonderful job for me. Even when the DA tried to read off my crimes of 2014 such as eluding police and they took my car away a 2012 Camaro; I was able to get it back. He also just recently kempt me from losing my driver's license after getting caught while driving while license suspended. I am truly grateful for how he handled my case. They DA tried to bring up my 2014 charges but was quickly shot down by the Judge.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Concord, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
