I have had many attorneys and although I don't feel like my expectations are unreasonable, I do expect the best from my attorney. After leaving my last attorney due to his lack of interest in my case, I contacted Mrs. Miller. I felt great about her after my initial consultation, but when I saw her in action in the court room she blew me away. Ironically, the attorney we were up against was one I had looked into hiring in the past, and Mrs Miller blew her out of the water. I was so pleased that I retained Mrs. Miller instead. She is SHARP and caught small details with just a glance when exhibits were entered into evidence by opposing counsel.. She built significant arguments out of small details that supported my case. Even if I had lost my case, I felt she represented me perfectly. She made sure everything I wanted to say was said and all evidence I wanted entered was entered. She is extremely professional despite a severe lack in professionalism from other attorneys, yet never backed down from a somewhat rude and at times loud witness. She is organized, takes lots of notes and gets to the point. She doesn't seem to miss a thing. I would change nothing and am very happy to have her on my next case. Lastly, she bills far more fairly than any other attorney I have had. She has really taken a ton of stress off my shoulders and I am so grateful to have had her.

1. Doubled charged on billing several times and did not provide details of billing actions. 2. Transposed the address on my quick claim deed but still charged me for the full price but never corrected the mistake after it was filed. 3. There were erroneous facts in my "Review of Facts" that were unfounded that I pointed out to Ms. Miller that was never corrected during the review process. 4. The paralegal, Christine Walden, is also the billing agent, thus all issues with my billing and questions about how I was billed and the services that were provided went through Ms. Walden. 5. During my two days on the stand, Ms. Miller did not object to one thing, although the Judge objected on my behalf during the cross examination and instructed Ms. Miller that she can object as well (documented in transcript). 6. Key facts more specifically my ex spouse's state retirement benefits was left out and not factored in during the discover process in which I paid for. The Judge had do discover it during the trail, thus take a break so that Ms. Miller and the opposing attorney could factor in my ex spouse's retirement, although my retirement was already factored.

Dont believe everything you read. Each case is different as so is each client. Mrs. Miller is a great person and attorney. Her staff and her are very heplful and will walk you through every step. Some client post bad reviews because the judge didnt rule in their favor. Mrs. Miller does everything she can but in the end it is not up to here but to the judge. I know for a fact because I didnt win my case but it is not for Mrs. Miller not trying or not fighting she fought so hard for me but the judge ruled in favor of my ex. Mrs. Miller will fight for you with everything she has in her until she she is blue in the face. I do recommend Mrs. Miller to everybody I know and met who needs an attorney. Mrs. Miller you are the best!!!!!

Not certain who some of these persons were reviewing. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Ms. Miller and her staff. They worked hard to get a fair arrangement for me and I am nothing but satisfied. I believe "fair" is the key word. I worked as a paralegal in the past and most people who are unhappy are so because they demand too much and expect emails and phone calls to be answered NOW and for FREE, time is money and lawyers are not cheap. I was represented very well.

I would not recommend this firm to anybody. Please, take your time to shop around. Besides that you will get overcharged you never get to talk to the attorney unless you make an appointment exclusively for that, keep in mind you are getting charged $250.00 per hour. Everything is through their paralegals/Assistants, and most of the time they don't relay the messages to the attorneys. At the time of the hearing/trial the attorney will ask you for documents that you have already provided to her paralegal. Their communication is very inefficient. I lost my case, I was given overconfidence that "we would win" and we did not. Attorney Miller is NOT aggressive enough and prolongs everything. You will get charged by the minute, every phone call, every email. I am very disappointed. I have spent about $35,000 and I did not get anything. I am still fighting for child custody.

I made the terrible mistake of hiring this so-called "lawyer" at the costs of $10.000 (ten-thousand) dollars. He did absolutely nothing on my case but accepted and coerced me to accept this lop-sided, totally unfair so-called "plea deal". As a direct result of this "lawyer's" gross incompetence and negligence, I am now on probation for the next two years, forced to submit to random drug testing when I was not arrested nor charged for drugs and drugs played no part whatsoever in the incident that I was arrested for, have had my Driver's License revoked for the duration of this probation, forced to pay restitution and court costs, have to attend a mandatory Anger Management course, and had to spend two days in jail. To anyone reading this review, my advice is to NEVER retain this GREEDY, IMPOTENT, WEAK, INCOMPETENT, INEPT shyster. He will not fight for his client and will hang you out to dry.

I’ve worked with attorney Sternlicht since 2015, and he has made my accident ordeal easier. I did not have to worry about treatments, because I was told how to deal with the accident process, I felt confident, that everything was going to be taken care of. His paralegal Mary, also helped with last minute questions. Thank You both for helping me, and I would recommend Attorney Sternlicht to anyone looking for an accident attorney.

Mr. Sternlicht and legal assistant, Connie Smith, were amazing at representing me in a bodily injury settlement from auto accident. They alleviated the stress of collection calls and letters from medical agencies by contacting them individually. They periodically kept me up to date on the process and made sure I clearly understood the process. They were prompt in returning my calls and answering any questions I had. I was completely satisfied with their professionalism and the outcome I would highly recommend Beaver|Courie Attorneys At Law!

Lee represented me for a family case that spanned multiple years and he remained professional and understanding the entire time. Not being dramatic, he knows his case law and even broke out a law book to show word for word what it says when doubted during a hearing. I even had someone in court ask me for his contact information when they saw how professional and intelligent he handled himself. Lee is honest and will tell you the best advice, even when you might not want to hear it and when you let him know you are uncomfortable with something, he honors your wishes as well. Lee always follows up and if he is unavailable his paralegal does right away. When all was said and done, I feel I received great representation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fayetteville, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
