We sold our home, November 27, around 2 PM, but as of today, we still haven’t received our payment. I called Thorp Company to ask about the wire transfer, and they claimed they had completed their part and sent the money to KD White Law Company. However, when I contacted KD White, the owner stated they never received the payment. Now, it’s past Thanksgiving, and we’re still waiting for the funds from the sale of our home. This situation is highly unprofessional and deeply frustrating. At this point, I don’t know who to trust, and I should have received my funds immediately after closing. Holding onto someone’s money—thousands of dollars—is completely unacceptable. After seeing the poor reviews for this legal company, I can now understand why they exist.

They took advantage of my trust between a client and their attorney. If you worked hard all your life to keep your head above water, to hold the little you've earned shop outside of Cumberland County. Lots of politics and professional courtesy especially between local attorneys. Look up case 24 CVD 3053 of Cumberland County. Afterwards, you'll decide for yourself and your family's best interest. I have nothing left to lose, it's all gone now. Caveat emptor spend your hard earn money somewhere else.

I was told to check out this law firm for estate planning. I paid the $200 consultation fee and showed up with all documents copied, ear-marked and categorized. Prepared to knock this out. After a 30-60 minute long meeting I felt I was in good hands. I was told my estate documents would be drawn up within 3 days. Unfortunately, not only was that not the case, but they were never created at all. I called 3 times over the next 3 weeks and left messages asking why I haven't received an email or phone call in regards to my estate documents. I get that I may not have a large estate, but for me to hound my lawyer and be blown off is rude, unprofessional and aggravating. Not to mention, I just wasted $200 and scheduled PTO for absolutely nothing. At the same time, a friend of mine called and requested available appointment times for estate planning . No one ever got back to him either. I was going to refer them to my other friends but after this, I told them to hunt elsewhere for an estate planner that actually does the job.

I had a closing with this office. My mortgage company did all the paperwork and sent it in. I Bank transfer of the closing fund to their office. On closing day I showed up 40 mins early. My closing was scheduled for 10am. When I got there with my agent we were told that they didn’t receive the closing documents because the had a power outage the day prior and closed the office early. I called the mortgage company and they resent the paperwork then I was told they had to recalculate the funds. When I finally sat down to close around 12:30. The attorney got up twice because he kept saying the funds part of the paperwork did not let ok right. We closed and I was told I needed additional funds of over $1,500 in addition to what I had already paid in order to get the keys. I gave up the funds. But a few weeks later my mortgage company sent me closing disclosure to sign. The additional funds I had to pay was not included. After an investigation it was discovered the additional funds was erroneously collected and refunded back to me. How many people does this happen to? What happens to funds collected erroneously that is never discovered. Attorney fees are a set rate based on State you live in. Why do they need to recalculate funds? Mortgage companies deals with the funding and paperwork. Hopefully this was a mistake and not an ongoing scam.

My wife and I were trying to close on a house from out of state and they claimed they didn't know which can't be since everyone else knew. But the week of closing, we were told that the attorney who was supposed to do the closing for us had taken vacation, which wouldn't be a big deal if they had a competent fill in for her. No one in either party (seller or buyer) knew what was happening until our appointment for closing had already passed. This firm was terrible at communicating. Kudos to the girl who filled in though, because I'm pretty sure she wasn't mentally prepared for what was being thrusted at her. But MAYBE, if your firm can't operate or communicate efficiently or effectively when a single person takes vacation, then maybe that means you need more staff. On top of it all, they had such a bad reputation, that when the seller for my house found out who we were going through, they wanted to back out of the contract because he refused to ever work with them again, which should say something.

Unfortunately, it was a long wait we did (8 months) just to have this office process or do something on our paperwork. It was too fast for them to collect the legal fees then did nothing to go forward, It took them months to finally drafted a short and incorrect information in order to file our case. We had to correct them. Again, we didn't hear anything from them after that. We kept calling the office, sent emails, barely get a response and no luck to get hold of anyone in charge by phone just to tell us the status of our case. So, we decided to withdraw our application and sent them an email to get our money back. No response for a month, Finally they responded but we think they over charge us for doing nothing just like the very first time we paid them for retainer fee. Just be careful and be smart dealing with this office. They are really good of what they do. Unprofessional!!!
