I happen to have worked with law firms across the world and can assertively declare that this practice is of the utmost quality. Their knowlege of Social Security Laws is evident from the start when paralegal Jackie assists with the intake process. Even if they are not the best fit, or an appeal is not in one's best interest, you will be guided accordingly vs. Some firms who demand consultation fees or mayserve 2 masters {Matthew 6:24} Instead of HIS people. Rachel comes highly referred, with great UNC Law credentials and a seemingly solo SSD focus. I find this structure to be more advantageous than the analogy of a general contactor who does it all, yet is master of none; no offense to some great general practice / solo practitioners I work with. In 2015 i was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. I previously was diagnosed in 2013 and again on 2015. I have had previous health issues and surgeries but have ALWAYS returned to work after 6 weeks, but i couldn't with this one. After my double radical mastectomy and removal of 38 lymph nodes i developed chronic lymphedema in my left arm and chest with extreme pain. I was told by 6 different doctors and OT therapists and palliative care doctors in would not ever be able do the job I have always done. I was a medical technology expert. I was always at my desk, on my computer, on my phone etc. I would type for hours for reports, orders, insurance filing etc. I can not sit, stand or lay for long periods of time. I can not type for long periods of time etc. I have worked since I was 15. I filed 3 separate times for disability and was denied. I searched for legal representation and found Rachel. After our first meeting I was so impressed with her and her staff. We were informed by Rachel the state of NC does NOT pay for cancer diagnosis. A person has to have a separate diagnosis as a result of cancer and treatment. That blew our minds. Rachel and her staff fought for us. They kept in touch with us. They answered all our questions no matter the day or time. When we were in front of the judge, Rachel and I, she fought like a cornered pit bull for me. She is knowledgeable of all disability laws. She is sympathetic to all of her clients. She puts law and her knowledge together for the perfect defense for her clients. She fights for you like it was her or someone in her family fighting for what is rightfully theirs. I said all of that to say this ...if you want a lawyer who is not just knowledgeable of the law but puts her clients first and will not stop until you have justice Rachel Pickard is the lawyer you want. The only way you would be sorry is if you do NOT hire her.
