I am so thankful to have been able to use Hannah's services! Not only did she help me legally, she directed me emotionally, practically, and brought a lot of good "bed side manners" that allowed me to feel comfortable with her from day 1. She knows how to balance both professionalism and yet giving you that extra hug when needed at times. She has stayed the course and is well supported by her firm! Her paralegal is outstanding and has the most organized notebooks out there! They go the extra mile to keep you safe and legally protected. Some of my favorite lines from Hannah were .....when I was in court when she told the judge "I am here to protect my client", or "trust God and trust me", or "the truth always comes out...... I hope you don't find yourself in a situation needing an attorney, but if you need someone who picks up the phone, returns your calls, is confident, knowledgeable, loving, kind, personable, family orientated, goes at your speed, and lives her faith out in honesty and truth- call now! If you can't get her, Sarah, her partner is right there with her! They are a seem less team and I am proud to back them and tell you they're worth it! Btw- thank you to her kids and husband who support her in protecting families like mine and sacrifice "mom/wife" time to help others in need! To your mom and dad- you raised a great daughter and your dad showed you the ropes well! God speed!

In my custody/visitation battle, I've been through 2 lawyers 6K in addition to paying child support without even knowing what state my daughter was in. Some attorneys give you false hope in getting custody when others just try to find a way to charge you the most money. Before Hanna Bell, I had not seen my daughter in almost a year even though a court order for my visitation rights was in place. My case was extremely complicated due to the other party often fleeing the jurisdiction. Upon hiring her services, I located and gained immediate custody of my daughter within months. Not only is Mrs. Bell knowledgeable, she's reasonable and personable. Hanna Bell is the ONLY lawyer you should consider to represent you!

Michael was very good to work with from the initial consult thru the final negotiation with my previous employeer. He was pragmatic and kept me grounded on possible settlement amounts, open to discuss tactics, and flexible in working with me. I felt all along that he had my best interest in mind and I was pleased with the way my situation was resolved.

I found Michael Harman to very knowlegeable in the service I asked him to perform. After being fired from my employer he successfully navigated a sizeable settlement for me in as little as a couple months timeframe from start to finish. I found him to be extremely patient with every question / concern that I had and he was also the same but firm with the attorney firm that my firmer employer hired. Worth every penny that I spent for his services. I recouped way more in the settlement than I thought I would and that I invested. Also when inquired on another issue Michael honestly turned down my request as the chances for success were minimal and he did not want me to pay to engage. I currenly have another question to ask his assistance with and I whole heartedly recommend you to seek out Michael Harman's services.

I called Andrew a couple weeks before and advised him my wife and I were house hunting and asked if his firm could take care of our closing. We sent him the information as soon as the sellers accepted our offer on December 12th and closed on January 18th without a problem (even with the holidays). From beginning to end, we were informed of every single detail of the process. We felt more than comfortable bringing our first home purchase to Andrew and the Stricker Law Firm, their work really speaks volumes.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Huntersville, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
