Outstanding Law Firm and representation. I’m delighted with the rapport and the TLC and their reassurance that they offer me to help me resolve my issue. We are in a very early phase of this case. . I trust them 100%. I’ll review with an update as the Case evolves and their Reassurances pan out.

Very fair lawfirm. I had a consultation with these guys and about 5 minutes into the consult we both realized the answer I needed so they actually refunded my consultation fee 100%. I appreciated the honestly and fairness and I highly recommend this firm.

Unless your looking to spend 9k to mediate I would strongly advise not to hire them. I was told initially $3500 should get me full custody and I might get money back. A month in with hidden ridiculas charges for phone calls and riduclas billing charges my account was spent and hadn't even seen a court room. After that and my reaction i feel like theu stopped trying because i wasnt a endless money pit.Needless to say they didn't get me custody and in the end my bill was riduculas and more than double what was said and quoted. The case was mediated (never seen a courtroom) . If all this was said up front, I would have never hired them. STAY AWAY, there hidden charges and fees they don't tell you rack up fast.

King Law goes above and beyond. Every step of the way the all female team exceeded every expectation. Devon makes clients feel welcomed and seen. Morgan makes clients feel cared for and heard. Karli makes clients feel advocated for and educated. Could not recommend this team enough. If this is not your legal team, what are you doing?

I have never been in trouble in my life. I recently made a mistake and I can no longer say that. I'm by no means out of the water yet but he has calmed me enough to see what he is saying. I have been afraid but I'm not anymore. No matter what happens I'm certain he is,has and will do EVERYTHING he has told me that he will do for me. I haven't trusted anyone in a very long time,I trust Mr Thornton....

Having worked with Corey MacKinnon on multiple legal matters, I can confidently say I would trust him with any of my clients. His ability to simplify complex legal concepts and present them clearly is a rare skill, saving time and money for those seeking his assistance. That same clarity and focus extends into the courtroom, and you can count on him to win a jury over with his straight-forward presentation and mastery of the details. Corey is a fine lawyer, a skilled advocate, and an upstanding member of his community.

I was very pleased with Mr. McEnry's representation of me. Not only was I happy with the outcome of my case, but he kept me informed and in the loop throughout the whole ordeal. He explained the legal process to me in a way that I could understand. I got the feeling that I was not just another client. From the time I hired Mr. McEnry until my case was resolved, I never doubted that I had the best legal representation money could buy. I recommend him highly.

My first impression of Mr. McEnery was that he is an extrodinarily bright and compassionate professional. His attention to detail immediately put me at ease--I felt confident that everything would be handled correctly. From the start, he made sure I understood each possible disposition. What I did not expect was how quickly and thoroughly Mr. McEnery resolved my legal issue. I could not be more pleased with the outcome and I sincerely recommend Mr. McEnery.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Marion, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
