During a rough year - Linda Baugher Malone at Howard Stallings is exactly what I needed when my mother and I needed legal help with father's estate after he passed away. In the same year, my mother passed away also, so Linda had more added to her plate and she didn't miss a beat. Exceptional attention to detail and was ready with all of the questions that would define the task. It became a very big comfort to me to be able to hand things off to Linda and her team at Howard Stallings because I knew it would get taken care of correctly and in quick order. I have known of Howard Stallings since I grew up in Eastern NC but this was the first time I had a need for an Estate Attorney. I was referred to Linda Malone by a friend and neighbor to assist me when I found out that my mother's estate had been illegally handled when she passed away at the end of July. It was discovered by Linda that my sister had changed Mother's property from her name to my sister's name using her POA signature which was illegal in 2021 using an attorney in Raleigh and never told me or Mother. I saw the deed between Mother's death and funeral. I didn't want a confrontation before the funeral and contacted Linda immediately afterward. She wrote my sister explaining this was illegal and gave her a simple option to correct the deed according to mother's will which gave us equal rights to her estate. This turned into a nightmare which Linda helped me through. At the same time I changed my will leaving out my sister and her two daughters who are now named on the deed to mother's home as of September of this year. I also changed my HCPOA and POA. Linda was a great help no only as an attorney but as a friend and advisor. She has also worked with my financial advisor (Paul Jeffrey) in Charlotte. Paul told me he was impressed with Linda's recommendation of how my will was set up. I have since told a couple of my friends what a great relief it was to finalize my legal matters and recommended Linda if they ever need an attorney.
