In any review process, it's the obligation of the reviewer to convey facts not emotion. I feel I have done this honestly, based on what I observed & the communication I received. In August of 2019 My wife contacted the practice of RBB&M. Mathew Benton set a consultation, she shared her experience with him regarding a surgery she had during the month of 6/19, which the wrong surgery & possibly the wrong hardware was used and poorly performed. This surgery resulted in two revision surgeries and a back surgery that involved a herniated disc. M. Benton expressed to my wife, that she had a very viable case, and expressed excitement to take her case. Due to the nerve damage sustained from the surgery, her foot and leg are always numb, which makes her standing & walking unsteady and painful. She had to take a leave of absence from her career due to this nerve pain and numbness, this leave of absence is going on 3 years as of writing this review. My wife or myself have not ever been involved in any type of lawsuit, we did not really know what to expect. We made countless requests for M. Benton to update us regarding the process & basic updates.
I emailed M. Benton approx. 8 months after the acceptance of the case, with no response. My wife emailed and contacted the office on countless occasions over the 25 month period, we wanted to verify that the records being requested were being received, with the only return communication coming from different paralegals that have transitioned through M. Benton's office. The paralegals always expressed that things were going well, one of them even conveyed there should be some resolution within the next 6-8 months, that was in the fall of 2020.
My wife put a lot of faith in M. Benton & we chalked the lack of communication up to that things were progressing, as this is what was being conveyed by M. Benton's paralegal's. Early into this process, I would have fully accepted, if M. Benton communicated that he was not interested in taking my wife's case. But after we began to push back regarding the lack of communication by M. Benton, he conveniently had his paralegal inform us that he is withdrawing from my wife's case after wasting 2 years & 1 month of our time. When we received my wife's case file from their office, there was nothing more than her medical records. My wife has an inadequate amount of time remaining to pursue this with a competent attorney, due to the statute of limitations expiring. We approached another attorney three months ago and they sent us a rejection letter due to an inadequate amount of time remaining. I understand M. Benton has no concern about the personal hardships that my wife has endured, and how much this case meant to her, not only from a perspective of the recovery of lost wages but also doctor accountability. Looking back, this was evident in his lack of communication over the course of the 25 months, with little to no effort being put into her case during that time. When M. Benton's paralegal said she would forward my contact info to him & request that he contacts me to provide an explanation for his withdraw. I knew there would be no return phone call with no explanation. I would have been surprised if M. Benton even got to the bottom of my email to him outlining his unprofessionalism before deleting it, however I am confident that someone from their office will get to the bottom of this review because this potentially detours others from making the same error that my wife had made. M. Benton may be a good attorney, this I do not know, however I would expect that communication is part of being a good attorney and this courtesy was never shown. If I am correct in that this entire review is read by either M. Benton or someone else in his practice, what I would most want to convey; is, don't take advantage of someone that puts their trust in you, to competently perform your job.

MS. Cathrine Byerley has done an excellent job representing me in any case that comes up. For these particular cases it was unemployment hearings. She made me very aware of what to expect during the process and kept in touch with me even after business hours to ensure all my questions were responded to. She is very professional and knows her job very well, so far we have won 1 unemployment hearing and in the process of winning the 2nd hearing. If you need any law advice look no further , you're in the right place. Thank you Ms. Byerley for all your hard work and dedication!
