After dealing with a previous attorney who left us disappointed and everything only partially taken care of regarding my father's estate I found Danielle. Danielle reassured me that she would take care of finalizing things to close the estate. Danielle is absolutely professional and knowledgeable; she communicates all the details and provides updates quickly and thoroughly. She explained everything that was happening and answered all our questions very clearly. She went back and finished things the previous attorney left incomplete and guided us through the decisions we needed to make. It took Danielle a few short months to get things finished out even during covid-19 when it had taken the other person well over 8 months to do half of what Danielle did. I'm very impressed with her level of commitment to get everything finalized and closed out in a timely fashion.

We are so appreciative of Danielle Feller and Donna Glenn of Robert’s Law Group. We had no idea of all that is involved in the court process and were much relieved to be in such good hands. She explained in detail the likely outcome as well as possibilities and how things would be handled. Beginning with my initial call we were reassured and provided with information about the process including setting up a follow-up call with Danielle. From that point through the dismissal, communication to explain the process, keep us updated, and answer each question was outstanding. We highly recommend Danielle and her firm, an exceptional attorney and law group.

Adam is an amazing and very caring man. He was there above and beyond any attorney I have ever dealt with. If it was not for Adam, I would still be fighting to get my kids back who had wrongfully been taken by the Department of Social Services. Adam fought for me with no mercy against the Department and got everything completely dismissed and my kids returned home immediately after court. I AM FOR EVER GRATEFUL AND WORDS JUST CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW THANKFUL MY FAMILY IS TO HAVE SUCH A GREAT MAN ON OUR SIDE WHO PUT OUR FAMILY BACK TOGETHER!! Thank you Adam YOUR THE BEST!!

My wife and I are going through a separation heading for divorce, and as everyone knows it's not an easy process. I was refered to Adam by a separation lawyer, and I am so glad. It didn't matter when I called him, or sent him a text. Adam always responded immediately, whether he was able to talk or not. He would let me know, and then get back to me as as possible. I have never experianced a lawyer that is willing to even take time out of a weekend on several occasions to be there when I was going through a situation,a nd guide me through the process for my protection. If you are looking for a lawyer that will be compasionate, caring, knowledgable, shoot you straight, and guide you honestly through a sensitive situation, then Adam is the lawyer you want. Whenever anyone comes to me asking about a good lawyer, I tell them Adam Hilton.

Adam treated my case like it was his only case, he even went to the extreme of calling me at 9pm when an issue arise. He explained every step to me so I had a complete understanding, of the process, and all of the paperwork. But most importantly he won my case hands down, I don't feel like I took a lost on anything. I consider not just my attorney but a friend.

I found Alex by chance, and I couldn't be more pleased. My now husband and my two boys wanted to make it official and do an adoption. My ex was making it hard to do, even though he had not been in there lives for over 12 years and no child support. Alex didn't give up. He fought for us and got it done. The adoption is official. Alex has also given us advice on other things. The whole office is wonderful. Crystal is amazing and so understanding. If you have any issues I recommend them to the fullest. And for those who I know will wonder they are very reasonable with cost and they will work with you on everything. Thank you again for everything Pope McMillan Sarah Hammer

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Statesville, North Carolina?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
