I set up a meeting through Ms Smith's paralegal for 7 days ahead. I sent documents for Smith's perusal 6 days in advance. When I arrived, she had not read the documents and had no idea why I was there. She briefly looked through one document and offered off the cuff legal advice, but had no idea of my other concerns that were detailed in the unread papers. Her paralegal stated that the initial consult would be $75, but I was charged the full hourly rate of $250. I should have walked out when I saw that she was unprepared.
