just now The most unprofessional unorganized business I have ever seen. You get what you pay for. Facts: My file was lost in the stacks and stacks of files when I arrived for my last meeting. They searched for almost a half an hour and still couldn't find it. My paperwork was not properly filed and if I would have not done the legwork myself running paperwork to the courthouse last minute, I would have had to start my case from the very begininng with a new lawyer due to deadlines. Phone calls were never returned. Upon telling Mr Golub that I didn't feel confident with his work after he failed to file paperwork and blamed it on my bank after his secretary previously confirmed she had the paperwork, and lost my file, he became very uncomposed to say the least and told me to get out of his office. He yelled within inches of my face, spit flying, pointing his finger in my face. Telling me to come back when I feel more confident. He slammed his door and told me I could just sit there all day, that he wasn't helping me. He told me I was the worst client he has ever had. When he finally helped me, he became angry that I read what I was signing and slammed down the papers crumpling them up. Mr Golub also made several comments about my appearance and said we obviously have very different standards. When I asked to have information to complete courses he told me I couldn't take them yet because he owed them money. This was on two different occasions, months apart. Would never recommend him to anyone. It's not worth the extra couple hundred of dollars you save to be constantly stressed and worried that your case is not being handled properly. The case was taken care of on time. But I had to constantly follow up with them, and as previously stated, the final piece of Information the courts needed to settle my case would not have been in their hands if I had not taken it to them. He had the paperwork in his possession for 2 months.

The minute I walked into his office....I should have left and never came back. The disarray of his office should have been enough to make me leave, but this was my first time filling BKO so I didn't know what to expect. Mr. Golub is a nice man but is very unorganized. Further into the BKO I called him several times concerning reaffirmation letters for my car and house, after several attempts with no communication, I took maters into my own hands and spoke with many Customer Service Rep's and bank supervisors--the bottom line was, he needed to submit paper work--NOTHING WAS EVER SUBMITTED. I then went to his office (his secretary does everything) and made sure he submitted all necessary forms. This was one of the most stressful things I ever went through. He assured me by filling Chapter 13, I would not loose my home or my car--well, I almost did!! No thanks to Mr. Golub. To this day, I still don't know why I am paying him over $1,300. 00 when I did a crap load of work. I thought that was the attorney's job?

I had Christina handle a landlord-tenant matter for me and also a similar matter for my wife, and in both cases she provided exceptional, responsive service. She learns the cases quickly, asks the pertinent "trigger" questions, and responds professionally to let the opposing party know that she means business and expects results. She is efficient and knowledgeable, not one of the locals who drag cases on and may be chummy with their opposition outside of the trial. A refreshing change; highly recommended.

I was in need of an attorney for personal reasons. I didn't even know where to start searching, so I looked on the yellow pages app on my phone and out of the attorneys to choose from I chose Christina Bollman's name. I couldn't have made a better decision. Through it all, Christina Bollman has been my attorney and best friend. Christina isn't your typical attorney, and that's what I liked about her the most. I couldn't have had a better attorney.

Jeff assisted us with a major environmental compliance issue. He handled the issue for us in the most professional manner. He was able to reduce our fine by over 75 percent and our exposure by an incalculable amount. Because of him, we now have a great working relationship with our regulators. Jeff not only impressed us with his breadth of knowledge but also the regulators. We would recommend him highly to anyone in need of legal assistance.

Ryan was great, he really did a great job of making me feel comfortable. I had always heard from others that working with lawyers was intimidating. I did not find that to be the case at all! Ryan never once made me feel silly about asking questions. He would take time to explain things to me in a way I could easily understand. I would definitely recommend Ryan and his firm to others!

Mr. Kuchmaner is our primary attorney and has handled a wide range of things for us. He helped us negotiate some tough contracts in our commercial real estate business. In one project he helped us negotiate a purchase contract where environmental clean up was required. In another he went in front of city hall and successfully got them to vote to rezone our property. He has done numerous other projects for us in different areas of business. He has always been fast and reliable - and he really does top quality work. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Canton, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
