My mother in law and her friend both had horrible experiences. He takes his clients so much "at their word" that the goofiest things can happen with their bequeathals. Since his firm can charge for all changes, guess they don't care whether it makes any sense or not. We changed as quickly as we could to other lawyers so the latest caregivers or doctors didn't get all the family's estate.

I am a member of a business professional group with Bruce Favret and almost every week a member within our chapter provides a testimonial about a personal family member, relative, friend, or business colleague that Bruce, his daughter, and partner, Elizabeth Favret and his legal assistant, Sandra Sutter of how they helped them complete their estate plan. Whether the plan is for modest estate or for one with many factors including extended family, previous marriages or handling real estate and personal assets in several states, Bruce and his staff will simplify the process. Bruce listens to his clients, discovers what is important to them and delivers a plan to accomplish their request.

Bruce has been our attorney throughout our daughters guardianship as well as our personal estate attorney. He is very supportive, engaging and knowledgeable of probable and estate law. He and his paralegal, Sandy, are a great team and I’ve recommended them to several friends in need of services.

I was researching attorneys to do estate planning and did extensive research ahead of time. I reached several families whose estate planning for their loved one(s), now deceased, were done by Mr. Favret. Consistently they were dissatisfied with how he handled their loved ones’ estates. He sometimes met with their family member, who was the client, without any other family present, stating the client wished it, when the family might not have. He used the same person over and over as a witness and notary, not validating with the family any changes their loved ones (who may or may not have been of sound mind) may have made. Of course he charged for all changes, over and over. In effect, he acted in a manner that to them was untrustworthy. Further he was not associated with a larger firm and there seemed to be no oversight or anyone to complain to about his actions. We decided not to use him, and went to estate planners with a large firm. I gave him two stars and the benefit of the doubt because I personally did not use him for estate planning. The ones we went with, while more expensive, were superb.

Mr. Favret was the lawyer I had to use for consultation and legal advice for many months in regards to an estate and trust for which I was named co-trustee and co-executor. He had written the will and latest trust for the deceased. I was afforded legal counsel paid for by the estate in the execution of these roles, and for almost six months I relied on, and received counsel from solely Mr. Favret.
He did an abysmal job. He did not explain my obligations or requirements in either role as co-executor and co-trustee, even though I visited his office before the demise of his primary client to learn what I was supposed to do.
Then he was slow in acting on multiple items.
I had to consult with him to request the estate pay for a funeral and memorial which was clearly stated in the documents as costs to be borne by the estate.
Next, I had to consult with him on the items to be transferred to beneficiaries. He had no idea how to handle maintenance issues arising on property held in the trust until the property was transferred to the beneficiary, and had to rely on the beneficiary to deal with it before the property title had been transferred. During the transfer of property, some six months later, he neglected to have the estate pay the back taxes owed on the property while his client had still been alive, leaving the recipient to pay for them.
For a car, he was unable to transfer the title legally to someone living out of state.
For an account designated as “Transfer on Death” he said he would put it forward to the judge to transfer the account to the beneficiary but he never did.
I was chagrined that he put himself forward to the judge as sole executor and not both of us as co-executors as the will had stipulated, a will which he himself had drafted.
When I had consulted with him for months, and was terribly disappointed at his performance as a co-executor and co-trustee, I had to turn to separate lawyers to advise me and with whom to consult.

This lawyer is deceptive and exploits the elderly. He has had multiple complaints lodged against him for transgressions of professional conduct including encouraging his clients to assume all their rights and then doing so without the family’s knowledge. He later claims that his client (then deceased) wished it that way, without any witnesses except his own assistant who he also uses as a notary. Do NOT use this lawyer.
