Mr. DeBra was the public defender for my friend. He was facing serious charges that were made to be more serious than the actual crime. My friend was also (at the time of the alleged crime) experiencing a mental health emergency. During the entire court process, he was still having quite a few issues with his mental health and was unaware of the severity of the charges he was facing. I brought this information up to Mr. DeBra after the second initial court hearing just to be dismissed by him. He was very quick to leave the courthouse and understandably, had a busy schedule. However, not one single call I made into his office was returned to me. The next few court appearances were very similar pertaining to my friend's mental health and the incompetency of Mr. DeBra. Mr. DeBra convinced my friend that if he pled guilty to the charges, he'd face 4 months maximum and if he didn't, he'd be looking at 4 years. My friend, who had complete trust in Mr. DeBra then was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Keep in mind my friend had no criminal history for over 25 years. I believe Mr. DeBra was unconcerned about his client, was very unprofessional concerning the numerous calls I made to his office and never receiving a call back, and his advice to his client was inaccurate and uninformed to say the least. If you're looking to hire a decent attorney, I'd definitely look elsewhere based on my personal experience and interaction with Mr. DeBra
