I had the pleasure of working with Russell Moorhead last year on a probate and paternity case. I noticed Russell also specialized in real estate, so I figured it would be a good idea to hire him again. Mr. Moorehead is an intelligent, experienced and talented lawyer who also possesses the emotional intelligence to expertly handle clients and everyone else in the courtroom. I was fortunate to have him in court with me for a real estate deal case. Many times, you think you know what the outcome of a court case will or should be based on your own past experience or what you read online. Unfortunately, that just isn't true. You need a lawyer like Russell who understands how the evidence will be evaluated and how the judge and opposing attorneys will react. That's exactly what happened with my case. Russell knew right away what the best possible outcome for me would be. He explained how much we should ask for in the settlement, why and what to expect. As I watched the case unfold, I saw how right he was. Without him, I would have blown the entire case and received nothing. If you want an empathetic, knowledgeable lawyer who is also an ace in the courtroom, I fully recommend Russel Moorehead.

A property was purchased in my name using my personal information. I called the Ohio Atty. general's office for assistance. They referred me to the Ohio bar association. The bar association gave us three lawyers names who they thought might be able to help me. After speaking with these lawyers I decided to meet with Mr. Moorehead for a consultation. I had a gut feeling that Mr. Moore truly wanted to help me resolve my issue after consulting with him. Mr. Moorehead began helping me by taking charge of any communications with Wells Fargo mortgage company. He advised me regarding things that I needed to do to assist him in the law suit. I felt that he was diligent and persistent in the pursuit of a resolution with Wells Fargo. He was consistent and providing feedback and information regarding the case. He was timely and providing me with documentation that was required by the courts and Wells Fargo. Mr. Moorehead negotiated an agreement with Wells Fargo's lawyers not to take the lawsuit to court. He formulated an agreement with Wells Fargo's lawyers to not hold me responsible for any of outstanding debt on the property if I signed a release of the property to Wells Fargo. It took about a year from the time we contacted Mr. Moorehead for him to bring this very stressful situation to resolution. Mr. Moorehead was supportive and gave me confidence in him and a feeling that he had my best interest at heart. I felt that his priorities were strictly geared to help me resolve a very stressful situation. The property was listed at almost $1,000,000. The circumstances in which my personal information was used to purchase this property were bizarre to say the least. My nephew used my personal information to purchase the property and he made payments on mortgage for six years. The title company where the paperwork was signed to purchase the property no longer exist. Information on the loan application was falsified. My income and personal information was falsified. After that period of time there was no one who could be deposed as witnesses. Mr. Moorehead used his negotiating abilities and knowledge of the law to bring this lawsuit to resolution. At no time did I ever doubt that Mr. Moorehead had my best interest at heart. You cannot imagine the relief when Mr. Moorehead contacted me to advise me that the court date had been canceled and that by signing a release that this nightmare that I was going through what finally be over.

Very pleased with Mr. Moorhead. We had him prepare our wills, which were fairly basic, but had a couple of odd things that needed to be dealt with. He was very responsive and easy to work with. Made sure he understood what we wanted before proceeding, Would highly recommend.

Alex and his firm came highly recommended to my fiancé and I. Despite the glowing recommendations, in addition to Alex, we met with other immigration attorneys, before making official what we knew after meeting Alex — that he was our guy. As a practicing attorney, I had a very good idea as to how the relationship should proceed. Alex exceeded our expectations. Not only was his work-product excellent, he was communicative and accesible to answer our questions. Because of our time-zone difference (15 hours) Alex schedule telephonic and zoom calls at odd hours to accommodate us. Whenever documents were delivered to his office, he’d call us to explain the communication, sometimes before we even opened it. When it came time for our interview, Alex put us at ease with his calm demeanor as he laid out for us, step-by-step, what we should expect. It also helped that immigration officers knew Alex by name and had an expectation that his files would already be in order. At a time when hugs weren’t freely given or accepted, my wife and I - eternally grateful for his efforts - gave Alex a hug for helping our family in very uncertain times.

Attorney Cuic was my immigration lawyer for a span of over 5 years. In this time he was always very welcoming, honest, thorough, diligent and direct.... He always reviewed all my options with me and always continued to advocate for me even when my status became more complicated. I was very lucky to have him by my side through this whole process, and couldn't have asked for anyone better.

I attended a church function in Parma Ohio when I saw an advertisement for brown immigration wrote the number down and several months later I contacted the firm an appointment was made and met with attorney Aleksandar Cuic regarding my naturalization process I had some concerns regarding my eligibility to become a U.S citizen after a brief meeting at their office at the downtown Cleveland location attorney Cuic assured me that I would have no issue being naturalized after a delay due to the pandemic and further review from the immigration officials I became concerned to say the least . I contacted attorney Cuic and he and his case manager once again assured me that this was a normal process they worked diligently throughout this entire process at all times putting me at ease .. Andrew and his team are first class attorney's. I have hired them to represent me, and I couldn't be more pleased with the counsel they have provided. They have been thorough, empathetic, and have represented my best interests in what has been the most difficult time in my life. Andrew won't tell me what I want to hear. He gives me facts, his opinion, and options to consider. He likes to think "outside the box" to achieve the goals I have. He emphasizes that I am always in control of the strategy. He and his team make you feel as if you are the firm's only client. He works and fights exceptionally hard for his clients. If he can't help you, he'll tell you on the first meeting. He's that kind of person. I would hire him and his team again in a New York minute. You are in good hands with Andrew.

Andrew Zashin was highly recommended, and he is the best in the field. I found Andrew to be a no nonsense, straight to the point attorney. He listens intently to every word while he is focused and very clever, having the ability to make everyone feel comfortable. One consultation with Andrew I was at ease knowing, 100%, he knew the law and had the answers. His response time to emails and phone calls is without question lightning speed, while his knowledge of the law is impeccable. Mr. Andrew Zashin has a FIVE-STAR rating for a reason!

Since my collaborative process has been a disaster, I contacted Andrew as a litigation resource and potential attorney. Unlike his reputation as a “pit-bull” and getting results, Andrew could not have been kinder, compassionate and intelligent during his conversation with me. He has immense knowledge and experience and directed me in a very straightforward manner. I left the meeting with increased knowledge and empowerment.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cleveland, Ohio?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
